Texas Politics

Hi everyone.

Does anyone have any advice for texas politics? I just started today and the syllabus is completely overwhelming. Is this a difficult course? Any insight on how to study for Exams, such as focus on lecture, etc.

Maybe I am just overwhelmed!

Thanks.

hi registeredin06,

I just finished w/ Texas Politics. First, don't panic. You will do fine. keep up w/ the discussions, first of all. they are not hard....mostly they are questions which ask your opinion on certain topics discussed in lecture. try to make your responses detailed; don't just say, "good point," or "I agree." It is not hard to keep up w/ these and it's not hard to get the full 20 points. now for the tests: they start out easy and get progressively harder. you do have to read the chapters and the lectures. My strategy was to take very detailed notes on the lectures and had them beside me when I read the chapters. The exam questions come from both the book and the lecture, so you can't focus entirely on one and not the other. there is a power point assignment and a paper but I won't discuss them w/ you now b/c you have lots of time to deal w/ these later. I will help you. PM me for detailed questions.

i'm taking US gov now. have you taken that? there are 14 exams plus a comprehensive final!

later.

Thanks a lot! The discussions don't specify to cite in APA, do we need to cite in the discussions in Tex Govt?

I have not taken Fed Govt, but read on here it was pretty easy. Hopefully it is, I wi'm taking it next semester.

I have been taken my gen eds at a community college online, because they are much cheaper.

I started the program in July and will finish in May---54 credits in 10 months! I have completed 24 so far, so amost half way. The nursing classes are pretty easy so far, however, I have only had A&B and Health promotion. I will be done with all gen eds in December, besides fed govt, so next semester I will double up on nursing courses. Hopefully they do not get too tough to take two at a time. I'm using CCRN and TNCC for electives.

Thanks for responding!

just sent you a long PM.

no, discussions don't have to be in APA.

i started in august w/ prof nurs A/B; am taking holistic care, N 3325, on nov 5th, along w/ med term and US gov, which started today. i used my PCCN for one elective.

don't know what i'm going to take in jan. maybe we will end up in the same nursing class at some point.

For Texas History, take--and retake!--the practice quizzes. You'll see some of them or similar ones on the exams.

And like it or not, this is a class that you do have to read the book for, since they do draw questions from the lectures.
