UTMB BACC2 Spring 2012

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I wanted to start a thread for those applying for UTMB's 2012 accelerated nursing program. The application is open April 1-July 15. I was told invites for interviews start after the application is closed and interviews start end July-August. Does anyone have any additional information? Has anyone applied before? Know of any interview questions? Please share everything you know!!!!!!!

Good luck to everyone

Hi everyone. I was just accepted to the Bacc2 program and wanted to post on here real quick. I am still waiting on the info packet from admissions. What all does it include?

You've probably received your info packet by now, but I just noticed your question was still unanswered.

I got the packet via email. I got a letter in the mail afterward as well, but the letter didn't have quite as much information. The emailed packet included scholarship information (although the deadline was Oct. 28), background check and drug screen instructions, an ADA accommodation option, an Immunization Record to complete and mail in, and a health insurance confirmation if you will have your own.

I look forward to meeting you and everyone else! Join the facebook group, if you haven't already. The name of the group is exactly the same as the title of this thread, "UTMB BACC2 Spring 2012." It will show up if you search for that.

Can someone please send me the link to the facebook group page as well. My email is [email protected]

Hello, I havent been able to find the facebook group.

Would you email me the link?

[email protected]

Thx

Sent it to both of you. If anyone else gets their acceptances, leave a message with your email address, and I'll send the facebook group link.

Hi could you send me the Link please? [email protected] thanks

I am so excited to start the BACC 2 program in Jan. 2012!

Could someone please email me the link to the facebook page?

Also, does anyone know how I get the schedule for the first few weeks of the program. I know that orientation is Jan. 4 and that the first day of classes is Jan. 9, but I was hoping to the get class schedule for January, Feb. etc. I want to plan out what days and times I will be driving to Galveston.

Thanks! Dena

The BACC2 director (for us it graduating in Dec. is Dr. Al-Arabi) will send out a Spring semester calendar sometime in the beginning/middle of December. Be aware that in January and March you will be there more often for Health Assessment and Adult 1 skills labs. Often the exact schedule for skills lab isn't given until the class starts. The good thing is that often they will only be a portion of the day. Also be aware that on the calendar it will list a clinical for a class every day of the week, but that only means that you have the option of scheduling a clinical that day, not that you will actually be in clinical that day.

I will let you guys in on a secret word that you will hear almost every teacher use from day 1 -- Flexibility! Trust me, you will groan and roll your eyes after a few months of hearing it! But you can impress the faculty when they ask you what the #1 trait a nurse/nursing student needs to have! This also means that you can expect the calendar to change, so don't get your heart set on only going there a set # of days because things will change. They are very mindful of trying not to drag you down there for no reason, so they will often combine things together and extend a day longer instead of making you come back down an extra day.

Don't stress about planning schedules, getting books, and things like that just yet. Relax, enjoy Thanksgiving and Christmas before you start focusing on school. You will be so stressed out the WHOLE year, try to start off on a nice, relaxed, stress-free note (I'm am not kidding - honest)! :D

Thanks CLaker! I will remember that flexibility is #1! I'll try to be more flexible!

Thanks for your comments - they really help.

You must know my clinical instructor - hate that word, it's all we hear at the hospital!! :)

Dena, allnurses.com members with fewer than 15 posts can't send or receive PMs, so I can't send you the link without your email address. If you'd prefer not to post that, you should be able to search for "UTMB BACC2 Spring 2012" on facebook, and we'll come up. Join us!

Hi Richard!
