TAMUCC eline role call

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I was wondering who all got accepted or is in the TAMUCC eline program this semester. It is nice to have someone to talk and ask questions about the program. I start Jan. 10th, YEAH.

There is one check off to do in the lab setting between levels I and II, when u get to clinicals, your preceptors usually walk u through anything you are new to. We do get CD/DVD's that come with some books that show how to perform certain things, but nothing is what it seems until you actually do it on a person. Even inserting a foley, which u do as a check off in the lab, is completely different on a real person. Your hands on comes to play during your clinical hours.

Prior to your first clinical, you will travel to Corpus Christi to do a complete head to toe check off and some skills. You will practice a Foley on a Sim Man/Woman, Practice injections (into gel bags), and some other simple skills. You will do your clinical in the hospital setting and this is where you really learn your skills, etc.

Thank you for the responses. How many lab skills check offs are there? Is it just the one? I am very interested in this program as I have kids and need to work at least part time. Do you feel that you are getting the same level of skills training that a nurse in a classroom setting does? I would love to hear from any current eline student.

Thanks again Erica and College mom.

You will have one skills check-off. As with any nursing program, you learn the most in the clinical setting. And you have to practice on real people to get the full effect.

THanks guys for answering my questions. I think I'm going to order my books while I wait to be accepted and start reading something. Hopefully, I get in with a 3.5. I heard it wasn't that competitive so hopefully that will be enough.

You should be just fine with a 3.5

So, where are you located?

Don't judge anything based on my slow progress. Let's just say that I hit alot of brick walls.. LOL> I have been in for 5 years and Yes, I am about to graduate. I am in College Station. Can I ask why you will be moving to Corpus if you get in?

Just wondering if anyone else applied for the spring 2010 start and will be attending the interviews on the 28th??

Wow, I have not been keeping up with this message board! There are a TON of posts!

I will be there on the 28th and representing the eline students..I will be grouped with Prof. ******* and **** *******. The reason that they asked a few of the eliners to attend is so that the perspective students can ask us questions and get realistic answers about what to expect from the program. :twocents:

I don't live in corpus, but live about 45 miles away from the university.

so will you be there? i will be looking forward to meeting you!!!
