Hi everyone,,..I hope everyone is enjoying their summer and getting required information done before the deadline,,.. I went to orientation on Thursday and it was very informative, they answered all the questions we had and gave us very good feedback. I got a chance to experience the long list of books needed for the course…What a list…I notice about 3 or 4 books on the list that is optional, the rest are required..Other than the book list I am excited about nursing school.. Also, dont forget to apply for the different grants out there to help with nursing school...,,remember alot of us will not be working so some assistance is better than no assistance.. Thank

Did ya'll get the email about the varicella form not being accepted by one of the hospitals?? Now, I have to get varicella titers drawn or the vaccine!!! So frustrated that I have to spend more $$$... A lady at Kelsey-Seybold told me that since I had chicken pox as a child that I can't get the vaccine. Does anyone know if this is true?? I don't want to pay to get Titers drawn and then take a chance of them coming back negative. What should I do???? help! LOL

Just wondering if anyone has taken the HESI at LSC? Only Reading and English according to the website. Is it pretty basic? Just wondering. I plan to apply next month for Spring 2010 ADN program. God willing and the creek don't rise!! Ya know, this is hurricane season..

Hey Lizzienick311 - I graduated from North Harris this past May. I had the chicken pox as a child, but also had the vaccine. It's a weird thing in my family...we get the chicken pox as kids and then some of my family has gotten them again as adults...so I didn't want to take any chances. I got the vaccine just before I started nursing school at Sadler clinic. It was no problem.

Well to any alternates out there: I hope your next on the list and get my spot... I cannot get the required vaccines to start the program because I am pregnant and my ins does not cover titers, there's no way i could pay for those out of pocket for each vaccine. I will have to reapply next year... maybe I'll rethink all my options. I know everything happens for a reason, whether for me or for the alternate that gets my spot Good luck to you all!! I'll be checking in to see how you're all handling the program so post often

Sorry to hear about that Jeneecw,, those shots cause alot of problems and they are expensive to get... I wish you all the best with your pregnancy...

Have anyone got the drafted semester one nursing registration, 2009 in their email this morning? Have anyone decided their clinical site yet?? There are so many to choose from..

Im thinking about humble im trying to go somewhere wher their wont be a lot of trafic since its so early in the a.m. And for me humble would be perfect and i want to get all done in three days to have more time to study i work also in a pharmay and i hope to be able to continue to work at least three days out the week to have money for a margaritta or two lol!!

I have been looking over the schedule last night and this morning. I live 10-15 minutes away from Healthsouth in Humble, so I am thinking I want to get that schedule - and also to get it all done in 3 days....I don't want to do PM half days because by the time I would get my kids off to school and start studying, it would be time to get ready to leave...or if I worked AM half days, because by the time I got home and got to studying, it'd be time to pick up the kids from daycare....so I really hope I get my first option...Has anyone heard anything about the professors?? Who is best.....and whatnot...???
  11. by Tyshe
I think we all are on the same page ( goo123 and Lizzienick311) ,,, I was thinking Humble or 1960 and for sure I want the 3 days, I dont mind doing 7-5pm because I will be off Thursdays and every other Fridays to study and catch up on somethings... Maybe I will choose the Humble as well since we plan to be study partners... Make sure we pick our schedules early July 1st so we can get the choice we want... Also, Lizzienick311, I think we ALL have to pick the first professor on the list for now,,, I will be going to North Harris tomorrow or Monday so I will ask what they mean about all students having the same Lecture/ Lab but different clinicals... If anyone understand what that mean please let me know...
  12. by Lizzienick311
Yeah, I was just wondering if anyone had heard or had any comments or "reviews" on the different professors. Humble's schedule is with Prof. Rosen.....She looks nice in her picture.. LOL.... That would be great if we all got the Wednesday clinical at Healthsouth! I will be online at 9:55 am on July 1st!!

What do they mean when the schedule say " please register for your clinical section FIRST. ALL STUDENTS will register for section 11001 of RNSG 1523 and 1119 (lecture and lab). Only clinical section number will differ from your classmates. I am lost with that info... but what I kind of got out of it is that all students will first have Professor Malone-Thomas section 11001 at the top of the page.. I will also be online very early July 1st to get the 8-12am class for the RNSG 1172 also..
