New Grad Pay Rates for DFW?

  1. I will be graduating in a few months and am interested in moving to the DFW area. Does anyone know what the pay rates for a new grad are? I have heard the cost of living is low but I will have a huge student loan bill (probably about $1000/month) so I am concerned I will not make enough there to cover my expenses.

I just graduated last month, and I start my new job on Monday. New grads at my facility will earn $23.50/hr with a $4 hr night differential and a $5/hr weekend differential. Most of the new grads in my class have started between $21.50 and $23.50. If you are moving to this area, you might want to apply early. A few of the people in my class are still looking for jobs. There seems to be a smaller number of positions for new grads this year. Good luck with your last semester.

Can I ask where you are working and if you are in a new grad residency or training program? I would prefer to work at a teaching hopsital.

I have a 12 week internship. If you are looking for a teaching hospital, I suggest applying at John Peter Smith (JPS) in Fort Worth or Parkland in Dallas. Both of those are really good teaching hospitals. I always hear positive things about both of them.
