Memorial Hermann - Texas Medical Center - New Grad Residency

U.S.A. Texas

Hey New Grads!

I wanted to start a thread to see if anyone else on here applied to the Memorial Hermann. I recently applied and received an invitation to their Match Day. Anyone else ever participate in this event? I'm looking for some additional information about it. Does anyone have any additional information about their new grad residency? Hard to find additional information online. Best of luck to everyone that applied!

I just applied online...

Someone called me & I did a phone interview..I was told all positions will start in July. I can't remember the exact date but I believe it was the 15th.

Congrats on the phone interview! That's exciting... How did it go? Are you going to Match Day next week?

Medal, did you get hired on the spot or did you return for an additional interview? Can you tell me how Match is organized a little? I'm super curious!

Yes at match day I got hired on the spot however this is not a typical thing to happen. The unit I interviewed for I did clinicals on and my clinical instructor was the educator so you could say I already had an "In" but everyone else I talked to had to do an additional interview. The year I went to match day was back in 2000 and they had tables set up on the crosswalk between the Hermann professional building and the main hospital and each unit had a table and that is where the interviews were held. A lil unorganized but it worked I guess ? Good Luck to you!!

If you don't mind me asking why did you leave? I'm a new grad and I'm trying to decide if TMC is a good match. What do you know about the OR or women's services? How is the pay/bonus/ect? Someone mentioned that you have to pay to park, is this true? Thanks![/quote']

I have only ever worked in the TMC and yes it is true if you choose to park in your hospitals parking garage you will pay for parking, unless you work nights or its the weekend. All the hospitals provide offsite parking and access to the Metrorail that will take you into the TMC. The parking garages in the TMC are operated by the TMC and the hospital has nothing to do with the parking in the TMC. I love working in the TMC and I'm not ready to move to a community hospital yet. All the hospitals in TMC have competitive pay and bonuses. Ummm there is one hospital or two that does usually stay on the low end of that competitive pay though.

If you don't mind me asking, when is match day, where is it at and what time is it. I applied to 3 different locations and I haven't heard anything from them yet.

Match day went great... Now on pins and needle... Hoping for a second interview! Anyone else go? There were about 200 people there!

I was at match day also. It was extremely unorganized. My interview along with several other people around me, didnt take place until 2-3 hours after our scheduled time. I do know that some people at my school received rejection emails the next day. What units did you guys interview for?

Hi Belle2013,

I was the first group to be called in to interview. I interviewed with surgical specialties because I want to do transplant nursing. So I didn't wait long at all. I'm sorry to hear some of your friends got rejection emails the next day, that always super difficult. I flew in from California and hoping I get a second interview, I really really really want to work for Memorial Hermann... It would be a dream job! Hopefully we get some good news this coming week.

I recently applied to the Northwest and Kingwood GN location hopefully I get a reply soon.

Anyone hear any news from Memorial Hermann - Texas Medical Center! Still on pins and needles...

Nope! I am hearing of people getting rejection letters though. Tomorrow is 1 week so hoping to hear something!
