Memorial Hermann GN Internship

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I applied to the Memorial Hermann GN Internship for Spring 2010. I was wondering if anyone has gotten an interview or at least an email confirmation that they received you application. I faxed mine in and I have not received a confirmation email yet.I wish you could apply to all of the facilities. I applied to the Katy and Woodlands sites.

Also the application had a troubling line in it.

"Your packet will be reviewed by the facilities you listed if they have a need for interns." I added the italics for emphasis

Looking back I should have called and made sure the two facilities I indicated were hiring. Do they do this (allow you to apply to facilities not hiring) as a way of eliminating applications? Any info anyone has about the internship would be great. Also I live out of state. Would I do a phone interview or fly there?

Thanks in advance

congrats dramaangel621! i have not heard anything yet!! what hospitals did you list that you wanted to apply to? what were your qualifications? ie asn or bsn? experience? etc.

thanks! i however wont be working with hermann because i accepted a position with texas women's in the area i have always wanted :D i start oct 26th. i still have to call them back and say no thanks so that opens up another person for them to call.

i listed any facility. i am not picky as to location if they have what i am looking for. i graduated in april with my bsn. no experience in the field otherwise such as a tech or student nurse.

I wish I had listed any facility. Based on the app I thought you had to indicate a 2 choices only. I wonder if they will still consider me at other locations?

congratulations on your new job!! i guess now instead of worrying about whether my packet was received, i can start worrying about the fact that they haven't called me yet.:chuckle is your new job at woman's in the nicu? i think i remember seeing another post about you applying there.

thank you :D try not to worry too much, there is still plenty of time till they start in jan. and yes the position is in nicu. im still considered a new grad although i wont be starting when most do in jan. last time i talked to them she said i was the only one they had hired in the area so that makes me a bit nervous being in a class all by myself. they let me choose to either start the 12th or the 26th so hopefully by the 26th someone else will be starting with me, but if not, i guess ill just get some good ole' one on one teaching.

Hi. I am new in Houston and I try to fiure out the job market here. As well as the conditions of working. Is it true that in Houston's hospitals not prefer new grads?

They hire new grads, but usually only for internships which begin in June and January .... I think the deadline to apply has passed though..Due to the economy it is harder to get a spot- they are being alot more selective. You can increase your chances by working as a student nurse tech through school- you can also try calling recruiters.

Thank you! I'll try everything.

You have not got a reply because the lazy people at system services are sitting on their a..ss. Go ahead and apply for individual positions at the hospitals you are interested in. If the hiring managers are interested, they will call you for an interview. Don't be scared by experience requirements. They will hire you if they need you bad enough.

The recruiters are comfortable in their cushy seats they will not even forward your resume.

You have to take ownership of your own job search.:twocents:

i have applied at woman's a few times...they always call me back a few months later. by then i am already settled in another job! i'm at hermann now and

I got an offer from the University of Utah Hospital (trauma I) for their ICU internship today. I accepted. The U of U internship will be awesome. I get to rotate through 4 ICU's and a special care unit. M-H needs to hurry before all of their applicants are snatched up by other hospitals.
