Hello everyone!

I just wanted to start a new thread for kingwood/cyfair applicants. This is the moment I have been waiting for for 2 years! :nurse: I will be turning in my application when I return from vacation next week. My score is at 11.489 as of yesterday! I took the Hesi....again....yesterday :D and will be going on vacation Mon. I don't think my score has gone in yet either.

Anyway...I'm hoping that my score will be good enough for this time around. What was everyone elses score? I think the cut off the last couple years has been 11.4.

I have created this thread because I know that this site has been extremely helpful for me! And I want to return the favor for whoever else is applying or working towards applying! Also, in order for us to chat or whatever else while we are waiting soooo long for a letter! :banghead:

If ANYONE has any questions...just ask and I will try the best of my ability to answer it. I know quite a bit about this program, so I'm sure I can help in some way! :heartbeat

Congradulations I think both of you will get in the RN Program.Dont just apply for one school but make the school you want to attend your first choice since your points is high you might get your first choice.Dont wait apply soon.Im going for the lvn program 2010.I attended a info session thats how i know all this.Good luck

I am taking my HESI on the 19th... I have 8 pts. before the HESI so I'm hoping I will do well. To those of you who have taken the test- What can I expect? I'm so excited! This next semester is gonna be very long... waiting for our acceptance letters and the start of the program. I'm applying for the Kingwood evening program. I really don't have any other options as I stay home with my kids during the day. Good luck to everyone!:wink2:

I took the test last week thursday @ cyfair campus. Nothing much on the Hesi but mess up on the Reading part cuz am expecting 95s but end up having 85 point. The test I took was basically recycle..............:banghead: because i took hesi in 2008. Anyway now that i know they do repeat there test i will be better off next time because i was opportuned to write all my answer down.:smokin:

I was worried there for a minute that no one would reply. 11.6 is a great score and I'm sure you will get in!

As fot the Hesi test.....ok...here is some advice as I have taken this test 3 times! Do not read too slow and over analyze as nothing is hidden...all of your answers are going to be found right in the passages! This is the mistake I made two time in a row and wished that I would've found this site the first time I took the test. The passages are very short. There was only one relatively long one. You may look at this message and say....well I know how to read....but I thought the same...but it seems when people get in there and take it, they focus too much on what is being asked and try and find hidden messages because they don't want to mess it up. So....with that being said, I think everyone will do just fine!!! :yeah:The math part is basic 8th grade math... know how to tell military time and your conversions...oh and roman numerals. This part will not be counted when its time to apply. However, you do have to score at least a 70 on it. So if you are weak in math, I would definately look over some sample problems!

When I do eventually get in, I will be doing day classes. I really hope I was of some help!:D

I saw that you just posted. And said you scored an 85 on the reading part. You may want to recalculate your score because the 85 would not give you an 11.6. Also, I wanted to make it clear that they do accept not your best scores, but most recent. So if you took it recently, this is the score they will be taking. I just wanted to make you aware of that so that you wouldn't be disappointed when you see a lower score. I did that last application period and didn't see it on my score sheet....:smackingf

oh, ok. That's awesome! I don't know much about transitioning. I would assume is almost the same right? So you are already working as an LVN? Do you like it?

I am taking the HESI for the third time on Sept 2, 4 the night program for 2010 entry. I am so discourage and somewhat hopefull. I re-took classes that I made a "B" in to get and "A" to gain the full 8 points. My first attempt of the HESI was timed by the test proctor @ Kingwood, the second time was not timed. I pray that this time it is NOT timed. I don't operate under pressure when all my nerves are kicking in. My questions 4 u, was the HESI timed by your test proctor and what study material did u use? Congrats 2 u. I am faithfuly praying to get into this program. I have done all I can do to get to this point. What else am I to give of myself. Again congrats.

Reading this sounds sooo much like myself! DO NOT get discouraged!! You will do well on the hesi! To answer your questions...I took it again on the 7th and yes it was timed. I read somewhere a couple weeks ago (when I felt the same as you do now) some do's and don'ts that really helped when taking a test like this. On top of the list was, do not look at the clock, it is a distraction and takes you a few minutes to get back on track after you've done so. I used the blue hesi pre entrance book, which did help, but not much. If anything it helped me out on the math part. It covered mostly everything. What are you having problems with bc I am here to help. I actually just got home about an hour ago from helping someone for about 4 hrs with preparing for the reading part. I am not a genius, but have taken that darn thing 3 times and know exactly what to expect! :banghead:

I know exactly how you feel as I have been working on getting my points as high as possible for a couple yrs now. It seems like you'll never get in, and that's just silly to think! You will! Let me help if I can.
