i know some of us have received our letters so i was wondering who else i will be making this journey with for the next 2 years.

my name is allison shaffer and it's nice to meet you. i know we will all be close because it's a small group. it would be nice to get to know some of you before november 17. :)

Hey Ya'll!!

I didn't get a map in my packet either. Does anyone know what Integrated Health Systems means? I am familiar with the rest of the clinical locations, but don't know anything about them. So, will these be the only hospitals we will be doing clinicals at? I thought we got to go to Presby, and some of the larger hosiptals.

I plan on taking the math test early also. Is the information stating that if we pass the course, we do not have to take any more math tests that semester, or does this just satisfy the requirement for the 1st of 3 tests described? I didn't think the letter was too clear about this.

Nope.

Presbyterian, Medical Center of Plano 2X, Charlton Methodist, VA Medical Center.

Katie

Hmmm.

I did an OR clinicals at the VA and Charlton. They were cool. I guess I will hope for Presby, Plano or Charlton. Something new 'ya know.

Here is what I think but I'm not positive. I think you have 3 attempts to take the test and then you flunk out if you don't pass it the 3rd time. I think if you pass it this first time before school starts then you don't have to worry at all about taking it when school starts. That is what I understood but I could be totally off....

Did you get a list of the hospitals?? I didn't even get a list. I am going to go up there today and ask for one. They probably won't give it to me though because they like to be stubborn! :)

Good, that's what I thought also! It would be great to get the math test out of the way before we get overwhelmed.

Until you get the list from El Centro, the hospitals on my list are:

RHD Memorial

Mesquite Community

VA Medical Center (2 options)

Integrated Health Systems (Does anyone know what this means?)

Specializes in ICU, ER, HH, NICU, now FNP.

IHS owns long term care facilities and skilled nursing units.

Oh as for that math....

I was a math for dummys type once upon a time. Math never made sense to me until I learned differential or dimensional analysis for calculating drug dosages. Then it all made perfect sense!

There is a book that you can get on Amazon - and probably at Majors (I know most of you will be hyperventilating to get to Majors anyway!) called "dimensional analysis for meds" There may be other similar books too.

I HIGHLY suggest learning this method of drug calculation especially if you have trouble with math to begin with. You will ace ANY dosage test with this method.

Thanks gauge14iv!!!!

It looks like there is a different list for North Lake and El Centro students. Hmm...

I go to El Centro today with my green paper. I want to make sure they receive it.

Hi Guys,

I will be attending Northlake. We will follow the El Centro degree plan, so I consider myself an El Centro student, too. Can I join? :D

I want to take the math test as soon as possible, too.

My orientation is on November 15. I already have a lot of questions about the math test, scrubs, books...

:) Katie

Of course you can join!! We will all be graduating together anyway!! Nice to meet you :)

Me too. I have this fear of finally making it and then messing up on the paperwork somehow!!!!

So what hospitals are on the North Lake list and what hospitals are on the EL Centro list?

Isn't this all SOOO exciting!!!
