BSN needed to work in Texas?

So I've heard this God awfull rumor that you absolutelly NEED, and HAVE to have your BSN to work in the state of Texas. I'd never heard of this before, and frankly sounds kinda silly, but hey, it might be true.

So I'm asking any Texas RN's ... is this true? Do you guys all have your BSN? :nurse:

Absolute Bull. Someone doesn't know what they are talking about. You couldn't even begin to fill all the RN positions without ADNs/diploma grads.

I'm a nursing student and I also volunteer at a local hospital's ER. No, this is not true in my city in Texas, although the magnet hospitals have recently committed to only hire BSNs by a future date (I think it's 2013 or 2014.) People are saying that this goal is unrealistic, though...so who knows?

In Texas we have some LVNs working in ED, PCU, and even ICU. So the BSN requirement is BS.

That's been around in one form or another so long it is ready for hall of fame status. When I started nursing school we were told we'd all need to be BSN's by 1990! In all 50 states!!:yeah:

I've been an RN for about 3 yrs and do want to eventually get my BSN. However, I live in California, and as you guys may know, this is a horrible state to live in right now, financially it is terrible!

So, my husband and I have been contemplating moving to Dallas Texas (both my brothers and their families live there), or the small outskirts like Irving, and Lewisville. When I heard this, I needed to know for sure! I should've known it was impossible, you're right, how could all the nursing positions be filled with only BSN nurses!
