U.S.A. Texas

Published

I'm from maryland, and am a new nurse working in Washington DC on a general medicine floor. However my dream job is a pediatrics unit/hospital, and I keep hearing great things about Texas. What are some of the top Pediatric Hospitals (or hospitals with a peds unit)?

Specializes in AA&I, research, peds, radiation oncology.

Children's Medical Center in Dallas, TX and Cook Childrens' Medical Center in Ft. Worth, TX are the two that I am most familiar with. Children's Medical Center is ranked among #1 hospitals in the nation!!! HTH:D

Christus Santa Rosa and Methodist Children's in San Antonio are also both very good.

How about Texas CHildren's Hospital in Houston?

Dell Children's Hospital is a beautiful new facility in Austin, TX, considered an excellent hospital.

Dell Children's is great but very small, and they rarely hire at all. you might have a chance though, having experience but the hiring people there only hire to replace people anymore.

Specializes in School Nursing.

I second both of these. The Diabetes/Endocrine dept and Cook's is stellar.

Children's medical center in dallas and texas childrens in houston is among the top 10 pediatric hospitals in the nation.

Specializes in NICU.

Christus Santa Rosa in San Antonio is great!

I've worked at Cook Children's in Ft Worth for 10yrs, and I can definitely say it is the top peds hospital in Texas!

Specializes in IR.

oops i don't know how to delete that other post but here's what I meant to put:

Both Texas Children's Hospital and Children's Medical Center made the honor roll in the US News & World Report rankings. The honor roll meant that the hospital ranked in each of the 10 specialties (only 10 out of 160 hospitals made the list).

http://health.usnews.com/articles/health/best-childrens-hospitals/2009/06/17/best-childrens-hospitals-honor-roll.html

Go to the bottom of the page and click on the hospital you want to see and they'll show where each specialty ranked.

I work at TCH and it's been such a great experience for me so far. And I must say our individual rankings are far higher than Childrens Medical =)

Good luck with your choice!
