Any Brookhaven CC students?

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I am wondering if there is anyone here who has applied to Brookhaven CC's ADN program for next year or who has attended or graduated from this school. I applied for their pilot Summer 2007 program, and would like to find out more information about their program from anyone who may have attended or knows someone who attended Brookhaven.

Thanks!

Well, originally I thought that I had 34.25 points, but it turns out that I actually only have 33 points. I am just worried because there are so many applicants! My points could mean absolutely nothing if there are that many. What do you think?

I wish that I had all of my prerequisites done, but I am lacking Spanish for Medical Personnel (which I am currently taking) and End of Life Issues.

Oh don't worry, I think you'll be just fine. Even though your class has more applicants, 33 was like the very high end of the points range for ours, not alot of people had that many points.

Also, I heard (but can't say for sure) that the class before us which had about the same amount of applicants as yours had a cut off range of like 24. I remember this because I had 23 and was so close! Just be glad you don't have interviews, that's the worst. The amount of points you had didn't matter at the interview point.

Well I am going to hope that I am at the low end at the least! I wish that I would have applied before for the extra three points on top of my points....I really do appreciate your input and advice.

If I don't get in I will be really sad!! I have been at Brookhaven for way too long!

I have another question for you guys!

Did anyone have to dispute their total points when they were emailed to you? I had to dispute mine because they won't give me credit for Patho since I took it at El Centro. Apparently it is a different course number and I needed a request for substitution before turning in my points. Prior to taking the class, I spoke with advising and was told that the class could be used as credit into the Brookhaven nursing program.

Anyway, I am just curious to see if they actually responded to your email and let you know if you were awarded the points....I have been calling all week and nobody has an answer for me... We find out on Monday if we got in and I still don't even know if I get my two points for Patho! If I don't get them I will be down to a 31!

Please let me know!!!! Thanks!

Ok nevermind! Don't mind my insane ramblings. I have been going nuts for the past few weeks. I got the points for the class and kind of an early acceptance. She told me that only a couple of other people had points in the 30s and to expect an email on Monday. :smiley_aa

Ah, see, what did I tell you! That was nice of her to tell you that, and help relieve some of that anxiety! I'm happy for you. Early congratulations to you!!!!!!! :balloons::balloons:

Haha yeah I know that you told me! I still couldn't help worrying! Thank you!!

If it isn't too much trouble, do you think you could give me a bit of insight so I will know what happens next? When do I get to choose my classes?!

And I might be getting way ahead of myself (like I often do), but which teachers would you recommend, and which ones are your least favorite? I just want to know so I can get first choice on everything! ;)

I actually have seen the schedule. I have a copy of the Spring catalog. :nuke:

What teachers would you recommend (or not recommend) for the skills lab and clinicals? Any favorites?

Well for lecture you have no choice of instuctor, there is just the one for everyone. For clinical it probablly depends on if you have a hospital preferrence, they will have you make of list of the hospitals you want to go to in order of 1st choice to 4th and try to accomodate your wishes the best they can. If you want to know who is the harder clinical instuctor, Routh is tougher than Adair. She will ask you lots of questions on the spot, of course this helps you learn better too, you have to know your stuff. ;) I never had her in clinical, but she was really nice in lecture. Mrs Adair I had for clinical and she was great.

Oh ok. I just hope I can get clinicals on Tuesdays and not have to do them at RHD! Haha. That is my only wish!

I met Ms. Routh when I took A&P I a loooong time ago because she would come and talk in our lecture sometimes. And I kind of know Ms. Adair because I had her for Pharmacology....but the class was online. She seemed nice from the emails though! Good stuff to know!
