Accelerated BSN Programs in Texas?

Hi, guys! I'm a newbie to this site, and I wanted to get your input on accelerated BSN programs in Texas. I live in the DFW area, and I hold a Finance degree from Texas A&M. I've recently decided to try my hand at nursing school, and I need three prereqs to get into RN school--A&P I, II, and Micro. (I start my A&P I on Tuesday!) I was plunking around on the site and saw that some nurses were talking about the fact that they had done an accelerated BSN 12-month program geared toward people with non-nursing degrees. Does anyone know if there are any nursing schools in the area that offer such a program? I checked UTA, and they don't seem to have it.

Try TWU and TCU. I am pretty sure they have one , I may be wrong though.

I am almost 100% sure both of these offer the accerlerated program. I hear it is intense so get ready to hunker down.. Good luck to you!!!!!

TWU Houston campus (Dallas campus does not) offers one and TCU does too. Both of these programs are 15 months and start in May..graduate the following August. TCU program runs about 40K for the 15 month program.....little high but thank God for loans :) I hear that TCU received 400 applications for the 20 seats class this past time....really competetive!! Good luck on the search.

try TAMU. The are starting an acclerated program, although I don't know when it goes 'live'.

and besides, as you well know, College Station is a great place to live.

They offer an online second degree BSN ;)

I know Texas Tech just started an accelerated program and almost all classes are done via the web. They work with your local hospitals and find a predeptor so you can do your clinicals in the DFW area. I think they take new students in January, could be wrong though. I know it is a very intense program and am pretty forsure they say you can't work at all.

In addition to the schools listed above, University of Texas-Houston campus and UTMB-Galveston also offer accelerated BSNs. I don't know how long the TWU program will be in effect since the school must get special grants/sponserships from other institutions to fund the program.

I talked to the lady at TTU re: 2nd degree BSN and she told me it was 12 months long but that you had to have residence in either Austin or Lubbock at the time of the program. She stated that there was not a program for the Dallas area at this time.

I looked into that program, but I'm not sure that I want to anty up the big $$$ to go that route. :uhoh21: I've looked for information on TAMU's program, but can't find anything. Anyone else know about that program or when it's supposed to go "live?"
