Hello,
I am moving in with family in Denton at the end of the month. Want to see how the Texas life will be versus California. I have my LVN and also am a wound care specialist (WCC) with over 10yrs experience.
I expect salary will be lower? I am in the $20Hr range now.
I saw one place JPS Healthcare is anyone familiar with them?
What does an average LVN make and is there job opportunities?
Hope this will be a good choice on a move.

I moved to Texas from California about a year and a half ago.
I live in Fort Worth, which is about 40 miles south of Denton. However, I worked in Denton at University Behavioral Health last year as an LVN medication nurse. Denton is regarded as being part of the DFW metroplex.
I have about 1 year of experience, and earn $19.06 hourly at a nursing home in Fort Worth. My friend earns $20 hourly at a nursing home, and she is also relatively inexperienced. Nursing homes and extended care facilities tend to pay the most money, whereas DFW hospitals tend to be very stingy with pay rates. My coworker earned $13.50 hourly at a major hospital. Another very experienced LVN was offered $12.50 to work as a senior med-surg LVN at JPS Hospital. JPS Hospital is Fort Worth's county hospital.
Pay rates in Denton tend to be slightly lower than those offered in nearby Dallas and Fort Worth.
Well Thank You For The Reply.
I don't mean to seem that money is everything. Right now I live in a somewhat secluded city that has no nursing homes and no hospitals Nearby are 3 nursing homes and 3 small hospitals. I am driving over 50 miles one way to work just to get a fair wage. I am putting in 10 to 12 hours a day plus one way drive time of an hour minimum and sometimes with traffic 2 hours.
The remaining kids are older and doing their thing and the wife well she looks somewhat familiar .
My brother in law moved to Texas a little over a year ago. He has been telling us how friendly everybody is. My wife is a skeptic and we have been arguing about a year now that life is the way it is everywhere. She is finally letting me go and if everything is better she will move out here with me.
Would be nice to still work hard but have what really matters time with family.
