One can have only ONE compact/multistate license which is

based on your PRIMARY RESIDENCE.

For compact purposes, primary state of residence is not related to property ownership in a given state. It is about your legal residency status. Everyone has legal documents such as a driver’s license, voter’s card, federal income tax return, military form no. 2058, or W2 form from the primary state of residence (PSOR). If you are declaring Georgia as your primary state of residence (have divers license in GA), then Texas will automatically change multistate to single state license.

I initially got my license in Texas and then moved to Florida. They both always said single state. I now live in Kentucky and would like a compact license. Will Kentucky automatically make my license compact? This always confused me. I never recieved an email back from TX or FL BON when I had emailed them prior to moving to Kentucky.

If you left TX and relocated to FL prior to FL joining the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) this would be correct. As FL was not a member of the original NLC your TX license would lose its multi-state privileges and revert to a single-state license. After FL joined the eNLC (19 Jan 2018) your license did not automatically grant mult-state privileges, rather you would have needed to apply for multi-state privileges. had you done so, your TX license would have been placed in inactive status as you can only be licensed in one eNLC state with multi-state privilges.

When you apply for your KY license, and indicate KY as your primary state of residency, your KY license should grant multi-state privileges. If your KY license does grant multi-state privileges your FL and TX licenses will be placed in inactive status.

Best wishes.
