Tested this morning, and somehow feeling fine!

Published

I got 75 questions, no math problems, about 5 select alls, and lots of priority.

I have one word for anyone that is trying to pass: KAPLAN.

I studied saunders comprehensive review which was actually very helpful for brushing things up - I also did NCSBN (learningext.com), and the kaplan question trainers. These KAPLAN trainers were the key to the test - nothing else came near the nclex. Not only were the questions extremely similar (same format, font, presentation, question style), but doing the question trainers helped me build up stamina and endurance and the ability to stop fretting over questions I wasn't sure of and move along! I finished the NCLEX in two hours, and I feel very calm...i just ho0pe i can stay this way for 48 hrs!!!

keep in mind I am a very very bad test taker, so I was even more suprised to feel this way. If you are taking the NCLEX soon take my advice.......do not get worked up reading everyone's posts!!! i LOVE this board to peices but it is the one downfall I had from coming here so often. I kept trying to compare my feelings to other people on the board who studied the same things I did, etc.

I also wanted to add....i have never read on this board of anyone going to their local library. I borrowed saunders, incredibly easy (didnt get around to it) and kaplan - and there were many more - for free!

now cross your fingers for me and lets hope kaplan really is as good as i preach it to be...:lol2:

Good for you! Now you know firsthand what we're talking about :D

I've recommended Kaplan alot since I passed (not just here, but "live" to former classmates).

The NCLEX was Kaplan Question Trainer 8, that's all :)

Specializes in Step-Down Vascular, Renal, ESRD.

I have been using Kaplan also. Unfortunately, my services run out tomorrow. I did the Q-trainers 5-7 and got 60, 66 and 66 respectively. but how do I keep the momentum up without having the Q-bank or Q-trainer. and I won't be able to take NCLEX until another 3 weeks. Advise anyone?

Please help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just a random question.

is a calculation question a low level question? because i got 75 questions this aM and around #70 i got a calculation question..so im sure i failed because hardly anyone gets calculation questions!

no way!!!

I am not sure whether calulations are considered low level questions or not. however, near the end of my exam i also recieved some "low level" questions. i can't state them on this board but i can assure you they were very basic and stood out from the others - in fact, so was my VERY LAST question which i know i got wrong. i am still pretty confident i passed. the nclex wants you to get 50 percent correct in the upper level- if you achieved this before the 75 question mark, it doesnt matter which ones were easy or hard near the end.

Thanks for clarifying that! I feel better! It was a fill in the blank calculation question, so I'm pretty sure it was one of the experimental ones. Regardless, I got that question RIGHT! One of the few that I know I got right! I don't even remember my last question..All I kept thinking was OMG, I'm on #75, will it turn off? Then it did! But I'm still not sure if I acheived the desired level of competency..now I wish I would have gotten more questions!! I wait patiently for my results..CA does not have the quick results thing!

I just took my NCLEX and it shut off at 75. I have such a horrible feeling. I just have no clue how I did. It was exactly like Kaplan. I love Kaplan too! I just don't know.....people fail at 75. people pass at 75. I just don't know....:chair: I didn't have any drug claculations, so I was happy about that. :) 3 select all that apply...hate those!! Well, we shall see. I am still shaking!!

Calculation questions can be low level (ie: how many pills would you give?) or high level (something I had was so bizarre I can't even repeat it, lol).

Some people get 75 questions and pass with several math questions. It's too pat to say "it's low level" because you absolutely CAN get some wicked high level ones, too. A friend of mine tested a week before me, was telling me she had some truly insane calculation question, and I figured she must have been missing something in the stem to make it seem so hard. Then I got a question that, if it wasn't the same, hadda be darned close, because I worked on that sucker for five minutes and still don't think I came near correct! Didn't matter, though :)

Hi, Jen :)

I'm betting on YOU on this one. You know Kaplan, you prepared that way...you were ready! And it showed, because it shut off early :)

I could tell you to relax, if I had cash I'd bet on you passing, but you won't believe me anyway, lol, so.....hang in there!

Thanks RNs2bRWe....I just feel so uneasy because none of those questions seem crazy ridiculous to me. It was just like Kaplan. That's all I can say. I know everyone is in the same boat, so that makes me feel better.

I wish I had your confidence, whoagracie!!

hahaha --- i laugh reading my post from yesterday. I was going through my "Tenty minutes ofconfidence" phase. It is 1pm, day two - and my mind is PLAYING TRICKS ON ME! I still have the gut instinct that I was prepared and everything should be ok, but I can't help but second guess myself every TWO minutes!! someone said something about the "closure" thing....just wanting to know whether you passed or not, and I completely agree. If I fail I fail but can I please know now!!!

i passed!!!!!!!!! WHEW!!
