Test in 4 days need some advice

Published

Hi, I have been reading a lot of posts on this forum and try to calm myself down.

I'm extremely anxious right now because I graduated last year and never took the nclex.

The decision is kinda stupid because i just wasted a year and now i feel like i have forgotten a lot of content even with 3 weeks of review using Saunders and Kaplan. My school used ATI and the predictor test gave me a 99% of passing, but that was a year ago.

With kaplan, i'm getting 53%-68% on the question banks and my trainers are

1. 53% that's when the first day i decided to study for the test after a year

2. 66%

3. 62%

4. 68%

5. 58% i did it when i was almost passed out after a heavy dinner

plan to do 6 and 7 tomorrow when i wake up.

my diagnostic is 67% and readiness is 66%.

i never scored so low when i was in school and these kaplan scores are destroying my confidence. Can someone give me some advice please? Am i good to go or should i postpone it and do some more review.

Thank you in advance.

That's good for Kaplan...Kaplan wants you at a 65% for QT1-5 and a 60% for 6,7 the readiness and the qbank...your scores are fine. If you research the topic plenty of people have passed with scores way lower than that...

In order to pass NCLEX you need to know core content (infection control/precautions/ppe to wear, fundamentals, med's/herbals and bits of knowledge from each body system, roles of RN/LVN/UAP's for delegation questions you will get, know how to prioritize patients acute vs. chronic, stable vs. unstable for priority questions, etc.) and some test taking strategies. If you've done questions/read rationales, and have reviewed content you may have forgotten, you should be fine.

It sounds like you've done Kaplan - have you read their content book and/or watched their content or question videos? I used multiple resources (Hurst, Kaplan, NCSBN, Saunder's, La Charity) and all provided content and strategies needed for NCLEX. I felt Kaplan was best for strategies and questions. They also have excellent question videos to help you break down the question into simple terms and stem, and show you how to evaluate/eliminate answer choices. Very helpful! Also, Kaplan has extra tests in their qbank - four tests that are a combination of SATA and priority questions. These are also excellent.

Best of luck! Keep us posted.

Kaplan scores are better than mine were and I passed first time with just Kaplan and Saunders. Do you still have access to the ATI predictor from school? I don't think (but am not sure) that it expires. If so, you could always take it again to ease your mind.

Have you done much of the qbank on Kaplan? If so what was your average?

No one knows for sure if you are ready, but these scores look great so far. The anxiety you are having is normal. I had daily panic attacks when I was this close to testing. Remember to breathe, pray, go into the test with confidence! And remember NCLEX exects you to only answer about half the questions correctly.

i don't have the access to the predictor anymore. it was given in a paper and pencil format in school. do you mind share your kaplan scores with me? i just did trainer6 and only got 60%..
