terrified of taking the NCLEX what's the best way to prepare

Published

Hi everyone

I was suppose to take the NCLEX this week but I am rescheduling it for next week, as we just moved and my toddler keeps getting sick from daycare and staying home.. and making me fall behind in studying, I can't even find a quiet place or time to study - constantly being interrupted.

I signed up for the NCSBN course, but i keep reading how good Kaplan was... i have also read the kaplan strategy book

but I graduated in May and don't remember any pharm or delegation.

1.so for those of you who recently took the NCLEX what is the best way to prepare for the Pharm- people keep saying classifications but what do they mean really by that and where do we find them. Also how are we suppose to find out about new drugs.

2. what is the best source to use

3. how much is the kaplan Q bank and does it really help

4. do I really have to do 3000 questions

5. what is susana's plan for the NCLEX and does anyone have it, why is it not available anymore on this site

please please answer these questions if you can, or offer any type of help .. I'm really scared and upset that I can't even dedicate enough time to studying, my acceptance to the NP program will be taken back if i fail.

Thank youuuuuuu

Hi there! First off, let me start by saying that I haven't tested, yet. Next week (yikes!) and I didn't do a kaplan review or Q bank bc I don't have the money. I have been reviewing since graduation and studying. I would suggest to you to get a NCLEX Q&A book-I have the Saunders Q&A book-I like it bc the rationales are right there on the same page-no flipping back and forth. I also have to kaplan strategies book-that is a MUST READ. And, prioritization book from LaCharity.

I did the questions in the book and on the disk. Some say that the kaplan Q's are harder than the NCLEX questions-I don't know if this is true. I do questions, then read the rationales, and if I need further info. I pull out my text books to refresh. I think that I have done around 3000 questions already.

You really need to assess your weaknesses, and go from there. Good luck!

thank you luvmyguys .. for your response- wow 3000 questions that was my goal but with medical problems, moving and a sick toddler it didn't work out, i've done 800 and I take it next week as well...can you email me? I cant seem to send email messages on this forum I just jointed.

Have you done prioritization at all? How are you at it?
