SWTCC Fall 2014 Nursing Hopefuls

U.S.A. Tennessee

Published

Hi all!

Just wondering if there are any hopeful candidates out there for the Southwest Tennessee Community College Nursing Program for Fall 2014?

If so, do you mind sharing your ranking index score with me? Or your NLN? I scored a 132 on the NLN and wanted to retake it to try for a higher score, but was told that my score was "high" for SWTCC so I settled for it. After reading some of the posts on here, though, I now feel as though my score is mediocre, at best.

Hello! I just received my NLN score and I got a 129. I have and ranking index score of 59.4. I used the minimum Cumulative GPA (2.5) to figure it…So I would know what my lowest possible score would be. I'm really hoping it's high enough to get in. I'm getting sick of rejection letters!

What was your ranking index score?

Sigh....mine was a 57  Now I am super nervous! This is my first time applying and everyone has told me not to get my hopes up that I will get in on the first try. Apparently it is a pretty common occurrence for people to have to apply multiple times before gaining acceptance. I just wish the determination process was not so long. Waiting for two months to find out the results of such a life altering event is going to kill me!

Using your method of the minimum Cumulative GPA I have a 55.7. I was reading on here on another post that a girl got in with a similar ranking index score, so I am still hopeful, but very skeptical.

I took the NLN without having a clue as to what to expect on it. I signed up and managed to get in to take the test the following week, so I really had no time to prepare.

For the most part I remember there being a great deal of vocabulary on there and it seemed to be several questions about things like electricity lol. I honestly don't remember much of what was on it. Sorry! I do know that the math that was on it was fairly simple (fractions, decimals, that sort of thing) if that helps!

I scored a 120 on my nln and I tried to retake it as well but I was told that it is best to stick with my current score, that most of the folks that got in last semester did not score that well. However, that does not mean that their pre reqs GPAs did not contribute to thier index score. My GPA is 2.8 and I have all Bs in A/PI, II and microbiology. My index score does not look so hot right now:nailbiting:.

Are you applying for the 2014 fall program?

And don't be hard on yourself. You never know. My sister was waitlisted for the nursing program at Dyersburg state and they told all of the waitlist applicants to come to orientation because if any of the ones that were accepted did not show up they would forfeit their spot.

I suppose many of the waitlist applicants were doubtful, so only a handful showed up. And all of them got in because of the original accepted applicants not showing up for orientation.
