Lowenberg School of Nursing - University of Memphis - Spring 2013

U.S.A. Tennessee

Hey! I'm Johnna! I will be applying to the LSON for Spring 2013! I have been attending DSCC for the past 2 years. They have not been the best to work with and that is the reason I am having to wait until Spring 2013 to apply. (you can read that story in this post if you would like!>>> https://allnurses.com/pre-nursing-student/ridiculous-rules-670195.html#post6118621 ) I have completed all of my pre-req's and have a 3.56 GPA as of right now. I have not taken the TEAS yet, but I have taken the HESI A2. A friend of mine that just graduated from LSON said the TEAS was easier than the HESI A2, but I'm not sure. I am a little nervous because I heard that most of the nursing students at LSON are fairly young. I will be 30 when I apply! I'm not saying it's a bad thing, it does make me a little nervous though! Would love to hear any feedback or get any advice from current or previous LSON students!!! :paw:TIGER PROUD! :)

Jakkison,

I believe once you have passed your Teas you are good to go. I was told Lowenberg goes strickly off Cumulative GPA. I remember because I emailed them about it early last year. I will double check again but I am pretty sure that is the case. It doesn't matter if you score a 62.5 or a 100, it goes by your GPA.

Hi! I am also applying to LSON for Spring 2013. I am a Mom of three and will be 31 next month. Yikes! Good luck to everyone! Anybody nervous? I am. I've already finished all my prereqs and am set to take the teas in august (hopefully). I missed all the times for July already because I was taking classes and though I would have time. So, when it opens back up - I will get a date. I took the teas last year before I was really ready and missed my science grade by like 2 points. :/ everything else was fine. I would say that you should study math though. Anyway, good luck!

Wow, those teas dates filled up fast. I am going to try to call Lambuth to see if I can take it there. Not sure if that is allowed or not but it mentions something about it on the Lowenberg site.

The Lambuth site is ok to take it at. I think any place that does the teas is fine. I knew a girl who went to take the teas test somewhere in Jackson? Is that the Lambuth site? Her score was accepted by Memphis.

Sorry to be the barrel of bad news but Lambuth University closed last year. They had lost there accreditation. Here is an article that I have found on Wikipedia.

After several years of financial struggles, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools opted not to renew Lambuth's accreditation in 2011. Due to both the financial and accreditation problems, the Board of Trustees voted in April 2011 to cease operations on June 20, 2011.[1] Final commencement exercises were held April 30, 2011.[2]

Have the rules changed about the TEAS? My advisor said that you just have to pass. They don't care how high your grade is...you just have to make that passing score in order for them to consider your GPA for admission.

Yes but the University of Memphis took over. It is the U of M at Lambuth now.

and Rach, I just spoke with someone from the school that said as long as you pass your teas it is fine. They go off GPA.

Well, has anyone else taken the Teas yet? I just took it today and I got an overall of 85%. And I've been worried about whether that is high enough. My rank was 89% for the program - so I think that is good right? Oh - I was just reading the post about the actual score not counting as long as you pass??? Anyway, has anyone else taken the test yet?

I took the TEAS in June - yeah, I really think they just want you to pass so that they can consider your GPA, which according to many people on this site, seems to be the only factor in admission. Hmm.

Well, I got my acceptance letter for Memphis this week! Anyone else get one yet? We have alot to do before Orientation. If anyone would like to get together to do a CPR class - let me know.
