Looking to be Summer Nurse Extern/Intern for Summer 2013

U.S.A. Tennessee

Published

Hey!! :D

I'm starting my two year nursing program this August and would be finished with all my Fundamentals/Foundations of Nursing by summer 2013 (Graduating Summer 2014). I want to be able to do an externship/internship in the summer of 2013 in Tennessee. I will be living near the Columbia, TN area but will go anywhere that is an hour or two around where I live. (Nashville, etc.). Anyone know good hospitals, etc. I can contact who will allow me to do be an extern/intern in the summer for 7 weeks. Thanks!!

I would wait till you're in school to even worry about it. Your nursing instructors are a great source of information in this area.

The problem is I'm actually going to nursing school in Pennsylvania lol. I'll be moving down to TN when I finish school and was hoping to get some internship experience at least in the summer down there.

The nurse residency program at Vanderbilt is great. Its an 8 week program with options in pretty much anywhere you would want to work. The downside is they don't pay and it costs quite a bit to do it. What I did is apply as a tech at ... your manager is obligated to make you a "Nurse resident" if you have completed your first two clinical rotations in school. So by doing this you get paid AND it counts as a externship on your resume. Vanderbilt is an awesome place to gain experience. good luck!
