i'm an RN here in New Jersey applying for a license in California. One of the requirements is fingerprinting. It says here to go to the local law enforcement agency. I called our local police as well as the state police but they keep on passing me around like a ball. Now, I'm waiting for the Detective Bureau to return my call since I left a message in their answering machine. Is there anybody here that could help me out please???

Make sure you plan far enough in advance. I lived in Ohio, applied for my license here in California in August. I had to find a place that did hard card fingerprinting (most police departments could only direct me to places that did things within the state, would have been quicker had I been arrested for something!). Anyways, I moved in September and notified the BON here, I received notice in October that since I was a resident now, I had to use Livescan.....grrrrr......more money and time! But, I did receive a refund for my original DOJ hardcard fee.
Try googling "hardcard fingerprints" for your area.

I am a nurse in California and you wiill have to do livescan. I know Ca. BRN & BVNPT have a list of places you can go depending upon the area in which you will live. You can download the form that you is required for the livescan also. Good luck!!:)
The UPS in my area did the Livescan.
