One of my colorectal surgeons wants the hospital to purchase a TEM (Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery) system.

It sounds like a good idea for the patients.

Has anyone used this system before?

What do you think?

We have a surgeon who does this procedure. It looks really quite painful for the patient having this giant cylindrical instrument up the bum but I guess it saves having a laparotomy.

I've only scrubbed for one of these. From my recollections it was very fiddly putting all the different bungs on the instruments etc. But apart from that it wasn't that difficult to scrub for.
