Tell me about rehab nursing

Posted

I am starting a pool position as a lpn at a rehab hospital and I am currently working as a residential nurse with MD/DD/MH clients. I am wondering what type of nursing skills you use in this type setting. I graduated nursing school 2 yrs ago and have been at the current job since that time.

Thanks:rolleyes:

Good question...

Rehab utilizes a little bit of everything... Med-Surg, Neuro, ortho, cardiac, physicial, oncology, Surgery... you name it, you do it...

Dressings, drains, pins, halos, burns, decubiti, knees, hips, TBI's of all stages....

The patients tend to be a touch less acute than med surg or surgery. but, they tend to get sick fast...

A lot of the work is lifting and pulling... lots of muscles grow that way...

but-- its very fufulling to see someone get better...

Enjoy your new job!
