Hi all,
I am an ER RN the would love to work in a NICU; however around here if you don't have your BSN your chances are grim of getting that type of job. I have always wanted to work in NICU and even in the ER we see a fair amount of sick neonates and pediatric patients, and I always volunteer to take them!
I will finish my BSN in December 2015 if all goes as planned and am thinking about moving to another state when I am done....
So I would love for people to tell me about their NICU. Things such as level, number of beds, acuity, patient/nurse rations, average pay, and which state you are located in. I am interested in the weather too, do you have winter etc. I understand some people may not be comfortable giving away some of that info and that is fine, even if you can tell me the general area. Also is your unit manager and staff open to hiring RNs without previous NICU experience etc.
Thank you for any information!
