Hello everyone. I recently transferred to SICU after 1.5 years experience as Tele nurse. I always wanted ICU and I was so excited to start in this unit! I like knowing my patient and connecting the dots so to speak. I knew the transition would be difficult but I'm finding it harder than I would have ever imagined! I feel like a new grad all over again! I have to look up everything...like titrating drips and even something so simple as compatibility takes time. I'm starting to doubt my decision. Did anyone else feel this way? Thank you in advance for your feedback.

Unfortunately I cannot relate because I have not been blessed with such an amazing opportunity. Chances are, I never will either. However, I would think that would be a normal reaction because you have to know so much. The amount of knowledge you will acquire is the reason why ICU nurses are so amazing and admirable. Good luck to you as you take a career path many of us could only ever dream of.
