teas exam in a month

Published

Hi all,

I am planning on taking the teas exam in a month. So far I have gotten the Mcgraw-Hill practice test book and the ATI study manual. From the posts on the discussion forum here it seems as though those too books are great options. I am not the best at mathematics so I will focus more on that area. Math normally slows me down on timed tests. I love science but high school was 8 years ago, so that is a blur. I enjoy reading the comforting posts and I hope to do great.

I am in the same boot as you. I am taking my teas test December 6 and i am using those two books as well. I wish you the best of luck on you exam.

Study and you will do great! Best of Luck!

Hi

Ill be taking it Nov 27th as one of the schools I'm looking at is running a promo where the TEAS test is free for a limited time. I was originally taking it in January. But if I take it now and score well then ill be set.

Since I been out of school since 2007 I graduated HS in 2005. I took a job working on a cruise ship and called myself "studying" the whole time and i managed to accumulate a bunch of study reasources ,to prepare I'm using ATI study guide and McGraw hills book. In addition to secrets of the teas test books in math and science. And over the past month I signed up for mathtutordvd.com WHICH IS AMAZING! completely worth it in my opinion as everything is in order and each section of math (ie prealegbra, trig, algebra) has a minimum of over7hrs of material! It also has chem and physics concepts. A section on statistics, calcalus, even calculators! You can find the 7 minute excerpts on youtube. Its worth the $20 monthly.

Sooo hopefully this is enough to pass the teas and make it into a program . GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!

I am just starting to study. What McGraw Hill book do you have?

Hey Ladies,

I took the teas test today! I must say I was a bag of nerves lol I re read the 1st reading passage like a hundred times before I could calm down enough to focus on it. Reading was my best subject, then math then science and then english... I scored high enough to land an interview with the program director of nursing next week so I'm happy! Pace yourself would be my best advise for you all.! Good luck!!

I managed a 77.something.

My experience was sort of weird. I studied about a month prior about 1-2 hrs every other day, I've been out of school since 2007. I was distracted (along with my nerves) by others getting settled during the beginning of the reading section, I managed to finish the math section with about less then 2 mins to spare. I was rushing and I keep looking at the clock. Halfway thru the math section i got really really discouraged and it all went down hill. By the end of science and the beginning of english/grammar i was convinced i scored super low and really didnt spend the time i should have since i thought i bombed. All the while I swear there were brainiacs around me as they all finished before me! So at the end of the test my score didn't come up and it said contact an admin I was like omggg I did that bad. I left the room and sat in the waiting room until the director of the school admissions came and got me which really caught me off guard. He took me to his office and asked me how I thought I did, I told him I think I scored low. He said most do the first time and explained all the people in the room I was in were second time testers. He looked at his screen as said I did extremely well for a first timer and high enough for an interview with the director of nursing. Lol he then said go ahead and facebook it!!! So at the end I think if I hadn't of gotten discouraged I would of did wayyyyy better! I'm happy and super excited! !!!

So in the end I think I was well prepared but I let myself get the best of me...

Wow!!!!! What a story! That's amazing. I would be SO happy with a 77. Congratulations!!! I appreciate you sharing your experience w me as I do feel if will help me. I get terrible anxiety and will swear up and down I fail tests and end up doing really well but during I tend to give up. I will just need to remember your story. It's not over till it's over and not to give up no matter what! I will have a whole month to study. I'm taking it jan 4th. Was it hard to focus with it being on the computer? I have the option for both. Computer or paper/pencil version. Thanks so much for sharing your story and good luck with your interview!!!!

Lol yup anxiety at its best ,

No I think I preferred the computer. I practiced on the computer so it felt right. I think I would of been worst if it was pen and paper because that's normally how tests are given. You got this. Don't second guess yourself. Good luck.

Which school did you apply to?

Follow up--- I Got into my LPN program! My journey starts January 13th! Good luck everyone. STUDY it will pay off!
