Should I re-take teas? 78%

  1. I took my teas test for the first time yesterday. I scored an overall score of 78%. My program wants above 74% but you get more points the higher your score is. It is competive, they have 30 seats and approx. 90 applicants. I spoke with office and was told I was average, so I could re-take if I would like but it wasn't necessary unless I wanted more points.

My question is I have about 5 weeks before the next exam. I purchased the ATI study manual, both online exams and the pocket prep app. I've racked my brain and thought I would do better. I am returning to school, other than anatomy I just finished, it has been about 13-14 years since I have taken my pre-reqs so a lot of information I have not retained.

I'm wondering if re-take it, are the questions the same? I felt like I really studied some concepts I was missed in the online tests and they were not on the exam. However, other concepts I have never seen were on the exam, and I completed the book, all exams etc... So I'm not sure if I re-take it if it is a good idea to get another book to study. If it will be the same type of questions or totally different again. Please help!

I think it would be worth it since your program is competitive. You may want to change your study habits too. You may need to increase the number of questions you do a day. If there are any rationales to the questions then spend time going over them.
Are there any other criteria for admission besides the TEAS?

My friend had to retake hers and said many of the questions were the same. That being said, she somehow only bumped her grade up 5 points. I'd recommend looking at the specific areas on the ATI website that they say you need help with and review those if you do decide to take it again. Good luck!

5 weeks is a ton of time. I'd totally re-take. I passed really well with only about 2-3 weeks worth of studying for about an hour nightly and skipping somedays (hey, last weekend was REALLY nice out ok? ha ha )

What i would personally do, is there should be on your score print out or you can get the info on the ATI website about what subjects you were "weak" in - it'll say "topics to review" and start there.

You should retake it and focus your study on the "Topics To Review" section of your TEAS report. I have a 82% and contemplated retaking it, but since the program I applied to does not take into consideration the Science Score (63.8 - my lowest), I did not. I managed to get 100% in Math, 85% in Reading, and 83.3% in English & Language usage (English is my third language), and had more to lose in a second attempt, since they average both scores.
I used ATI TEAS Secrets Study Guide: TEAS 6 Complete Study Manual for my study. It is very well made and I am pretty sure I would have been able to have a great score, had I not waited two days before the exam to study.
However, it might be best for you to study with the ATI Official manual since it will be a retake. (cf. Topics to review)

Do not worry, you'll be fine. :-)
