Is this a bad grade?

Nursing Students TEAS

Published

I'm taking the TEAS exam tomorrow and I haven't studied a lot (been really busy with other classes), but I've gone through the ATI study guide and have done the practice tests. My first try was an average of 78% and my second try was 74%. My school accepts the highest scoring applicants (no minimum score). I did look at the school statistics and the average scores of accepted applicants ranged from 68% to 73%. I have two questions: 1) would I have a good chance of getting accepted if I ended up with a score in the 70s range? 2) is the actual test a lot like the practice tests (easier or harder) in the ATI study guide book? Thanks in advance!

Based on your school statistics, it would be beneficial for you to score above 70%. Seems like you're fine with your current practice score but, I suggest you study your ass off and get the best score you can get for a stronger application. In my opinion, the actual test was easier but it could be that I took so much practice tests and learned test taking skills that when it came to the real thing, it was a lot easier due to the effort I put in. Good luck!

Well I ended up getting a 68.7% and I can't retake again right now. I looked over the average acceptance score from the past few semesters and it was about 68% and the program average is 58%. Is this still bad considering the circumstances? I'm also going for LPN if it makes any difference.

As schools get more and more competitive, you need the highest score possible. As you can see, the average keeps rising

How much do schools look at your GPA? I've been able to maintain 4.0 GPA so I would imagine that would be in my favor as well.

My personal opinion is that the TEAS is a difficult test. I studied for about six weeks before I took the test and thought I did horrible. I ended up making an 83. I think the national average TEAS score is in the high 60's. Acceptance just depends on the other candidates applying.

If the average acceptance score is 68%, you might be able to get in as is but I would probably retake if I was you to get higher score, just to make sure.

I'm unable to re-take it unless I need to apply the next semester. So it's as good as it will get. Hopefully there will be no need to wait for the next semester :p

Just wanted to let you guys know I just got accepted into the LPN program! So happy and excited :)

Congratulations!
