Hi everyone,
I've been studying for the TEAS for about 10 days and I'm feeling a little unsure how to structure things moving forward. I've covered a lot of math so far (fractions, mixed numbers, percentages, systems of equations) and some science (cell structure, etc.). I'm using the ATI TEAS 7 Prep Study Guide and scored a 73 on my first practice test. My goal is to raise that into the 90s by test day.

	This fall, I'll be taking:

	A&P I

	Human Development

	Medical Terminology

	And in the Spring:

	A&P II

	Microbiology

	Statistics

I'm planning to take the TEAS twice — once in January 2026, and again in February if I need to improve.

I can dedicate about 350 total hours to studying from now until February, and I'm looking for very specific advice from anyone who has taken the TEAS recently and scored well.

	Specifically, I'd love to know:

How did you break down your studying section-by-section (Reading, Math, Science, English)?

How much time did you spend on each subject?

In what order did you study them?

Did you start with content review or mix in practice questions/tests right away?

What kind of weekly or daily schedule worked best for you?

I'm studying on my own and can't afford a tutor, so any detailed, free advice would mean the world to me. Thank you in advance for sharing your experience — even just a rough breakdown or what you would do differently if you could go back!

Hello Nurses does anyone have advice on how to identify the main idea in the reading section of the TEAS. I do fairly well on finding the topic sentence, but I need help on finding the main idea. Also some of the passages are so long I run out of time trying to read them. Does anyone know any shortcuts?

Actually, kind of surprised I can't find this in the searches! I did the NLN seven years ago, but I'm back at school again and I have to do the TEAS now. Then I did the class at the college, but I'm out of state at a different school now and they don't have one here. Can anybody recommend going to their community college (out of state, but online for me) or online prep classes? I know a lot of people are saying this websites good or that website is good. I need something more narrowed down. I can't practice quizzes on this website, then go to Quizlet and then go to another one. it's making my head spin with all the information out there as far as too many websites with too much information!! I really need to get that exam done by mid January but I would like to start now!

So now Im studying the math more & retake it next week. I was so close this last time but Im freaking out, thinking I just won't be able to get passed the math. I studied from the ATI book & just got the McGraw Hills book this week. I guess I need to train myself to do the math problems quickly cuz I think I spend too much time on them then have to hurry on the last 3-5 questions. Make sure you know the difference between and how to find the main idea, topic, and summary. Questions include reading passages and finding the meaning of words through context. There will be a couple of questions that list sentences in numbers and you'll have to rearrange them according to clarity.

MATH:

SOOOOO much easier with the on screen calculator. Make sure you know ratios, percentages, solving for x, and inequalities. Pretty much the same stuff as the TEAS V.

SCIENCE:

Oh the science portion. This portion has a decent amount of questions that were not in most of the study guides I reviewed. Luckily, I knew the answers from the classes I've taken.

Make sure you know the flow of blood through the heart.

Know which glands secrete which hormones and their functions.

Know the parasympathetic, sympathetic, sensory, and autonomic systems.

Know your electrons, protons, neutrons, and read up on quarks.

You'll have to balance a chemical equation.

Know the scientific method and be able to distinguish control, dependent, and independent variables.

Know the 11 systems.

Know what takes place during digestion in the mouth, stomach, and intestines.

Know what takes place in the small intestine vs. the large intestine.

Know how to do a punnet square.

Know genotype vs. phenotype.

Know meiosis vs. mitosis vs. fertilization.

Know which muscle causes goosebumps.

Know which units are for mass and which are for volume.

Know condensation, vaporization, etc.

Know where gas exchange occurs.

Know the respiratory system.

I'll add more if question come back to mind.

ENGLISH:

This section was easier on the actual test than in the study guides. Make sure you know complex, compound, and simple sentences. Know apostrophes, proper grammar, and punctuation. Know adjectives vs. adverbs vs. verbs. Know independent clauses, dependent clauses and how they can be joined together.

Overall, the ATI TEAS was easier than the TEAS V. I studied for about two weeks using the mometrix study guide. I know I did well on the test and I can update you once I get the results. Don't over do it and focus on anatomy and physiology more than anything else.

Good luck everyone!

I took my TEAS 7 on March 5 2024 and are these scores good?

	Good afternoon, Users

I am happy to be part of this amazing community I came across on when I was Googling. I started community college in Fall 2019 was taking a lot of generals and pre-reqs. Currently I wanna pursue a BSN - Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.

	Reading 83%

	Math 68%

	Science 85%

	English & Language Usage 82%

Total score 78% says Proficient level.

I was rushing with the math portion since the arithmetic required some time.

I emailed the University and I was told I have a passing score. But I feel I could have done better on the math if I was not rushing, and made a good impression.

	What do you think?

	Thanks,

	Nap

I took the TEAS V for the first time two days ago and found so much help through this site, I wanted to try and do the same. I was completely freaked out about it. I want to get a second bachelor's and I kept reading about how impacted schools are, so this test was a huge deal and only added to the pressure. I've been having nightmares the last few nights about my score and have been super stressed.

But there's no reason to feel that way! I am so happy to say that I scored an adjusted 93.3% with this breakdown

	Reading - 85.2%
Math - 100%
Science - 95.8%
English - 96.7%

I signed up for the test about 10 days prior to taking it. I bought the ATI book and the Mometrix Secrets of the TEAS. I started going through the ATI book and I'd do the practice problems in each section then I did both practice tests in the back.

✔️ I watched Kashwani on YouTube for the math (SUPER helpful and he is hilarious), he has TEAS V specific videos and goes through the ATI book with you, one page at a time:

✔️ I also used the forum on allnurses to put into a word document and make my own study guide from: How I Passed the TEAS V Exam - How I Passed the TEAS Exam

✔️ I used these practice tests: TEAS Reading Practice Test - Free TEAS V Practice

✔️ I also watched videos on Khan Academy for science topics that I needed refreshing on

(meiosis/mitosis, circulatory system, the kidney etc) and for some of the basic math (pre-algebra) for dividing decimals

✔️ I downloaded the Quizlet app on my phone and studied TEAS V flashcard sets when I was in bed and couldn't sleep or in the car

I purchased the practice test A from ATI and thought it was actually pretty hard. The first time I took it, I took my time and read the explanation for each answer I got wrong or any answers I was iffy on. It's really helpful because you start to understand the types of answers they're looking for and why the wrong answers were wrong even if you swore they were right. Even if you got the answer right, still read the explanation for why it was the right answer so you know what they're looking for for that type of question. Plus it's nice to get some experience taking the test on a computer since that's how the actual test is given. I reviewed everything I wrote down from the first time for a few days and took it the second time 2 days before the exam. The second time I took it, I timed myself to be sure I could complete it under the given time. I'm a fast test-taker in general, and on the actual exam I finished each section with at least 15 minutes to spare.

	My practice test scores went:

	First time

	Overall: 78.7%
Reading: 92.9%
Math: 73.3%
Science: 66.7%
English 83.3%

	Second time

	Overall: 96.7%
Reading: 100%
Math: 96.7%
Science: 97.9%
English 90.0%

The practice results are just like the actual results. It gives you a breakdown of the sections in the ATI book that you need to focus more on to improve your score. Obviously I did better on the actual exam than the first practice (except in reading, which is weird. nerves for the first section maybe?) so if you don't do well on the practice, DON'T WORRY! As I said, I found it harder than the actual exam and it's amazing preparation.

I read several reviews where people said the science section was nothing like the ATI book, so I used the Mometrix to supplement that. I ended up with a 24 page study guide from the one in the all nurse forum and a 26 page study guide of just science from the Mometrix book. In total, I studied for about 10 hours each day for a week and once I took the test, I felt like I was really prepared. Maybe even over prepared. I knew the answers to a majority of the questions and felt like it was almost "too easy" compared to what I was expecting. I had to remind myself to read the questions and what they were asking for and not assume I knew the answer.

The reading sections on the actual exam are a bit longer than the practice, so if you're a slow reader you might run into some trouble with time. There were only a few reading passages though and the rest of the section after that is pretty quick so if you're getting short on time, don't fret. You can make it up towards the end of the section as that part won't take you as long.

The math portion was exactly like the practice one. Definitely know your fractions! On the practice test, I subtracted mixed numbers by subtracting the whole numbers separate from the fraction. I got the answer wrong and when I clicked for the explanation, it said "improper subtraction of mixed numbers" so I converted the mixed numbers into fractions, found the LCD and subtracted that way and got the right answer. I still don't know that rule, but I recommend always changing mixed numbers into fractions when you're adding/subtracting, better safe than sorry.

I found the science section on the practice test to be more challenging than the real science section. I found my questions were specific, but easy to where I either knew the answer or knew which answers were totally wrong and could pick by default. I also felt like the study guide from the forum was pretty spot on in terms of the topics you need to know.

The English section was a breeze, but I've always been really good at grammar. Don't forget to go over your parts of speech and English basics: verbs that act like nouns, subjects, homophones, similes, who/whom, etc. I forgot some of those things and had to reach deep into the depths of my brain to remember what it was!

I hope this is helpful and can calm some people's nerves who don't do well on the practice test and are scared for the actual test. My test center was awesome. I had headphones to cancel out noise and was in a corner cubicle so I wasn't distracted. Be sure to get there early, go to the bathroom beforehand, eat a good breakfast and try to get a good night's sleep.

Also my test results say program: ADN... I don't recall ever picking that as I want a BSN. I had a minor freakout and called ATI. She said it doesn't matter at all, it only changes the national percentiles on the results sheet, but it is the same test and the schools can change that if they want to (what a relief!).

If anyone has any questions or wants any other advice, I'd be happy to help as much as I can!

What is wrong with me?!

It's so hard to accept because my health science GPA is a 3.9 (my school looks at that and the TEAS Score).

Perhaps the way I study isn't working? I chose to do it over midterms so you should understand that distributing my time evenly for each class + this test was difficult if I wanted to get As in all of them. Thus, this test became my least priority and I only gave myself about two weeks to study. I thought that maybe reading the ATI-TEAS workbook and the Kaplan would help as well as being able to do a last minute practice test the night before. It's obvious that I didn't do enough practice test and each of my averages totaled to a 70%.

The the things that I did worse in were:

-READING COMPREHENSION: Paragraph and passage comprehension (a whopping 47.4% from a 52% on my first test) but my overall score was a 69%

-MATH: My math went up from 40% (I actually ran out of time on my first test) and it went up to 63.3%. The main ones that I got stuck on were measurement, numbers and operations, and algebraic applications. Math is my weakest subject and I avoid it all the time because I hate feeling incompetent.

-SCIENCE: this went down too from a 77% to a 75% and I thought I was good in science???? I just took my first organic chemistry exam and I scored a 103/100 and I was the highest in class so WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?! I love science!!! I got a 100% on AP but the most ugly ratings were for Earth/Physical Science as well as scientific reasoning. How can I improve my scientific reasoning?? I don't know how to study for that...

-ENGLISH AND LANGUAGE USAGE: My percentage of grammar and word meanings in a context went down from an 80% to a 66.7%. Jesus, did I all of a sudden forget how to speak or understand English during my exam or something?! The rest were 88.9 for spelling/punctuation and 100% on structure.

Can anyone tell me what is going on? I have my THIRD try reserved on December 7 this year. THIS WILL BE MY LAST CHANCE to apply for my nursing program who only has 30 seats per fall semester (they don't offer their program in spring). I need to show them that not only am I good with my GPA but I can be competitive too. Lastly, I need to score in the mid-80's to be considered competitive but a 90% is what I prefer.

Any suggestions on studying habits, corrections on what I'm doing wrong, and academic advising will all be welcomed.

Thanks for reading

TEAS 7 versus TEAS 6

	Hey everyone,

so I just took my TEAS exam for the first time and got an 81.3%. This is 86th percentile in my program. Mean score for my program is 65.7%. Should I be okay with this score if I have a 4.0 GPA in all of my college classes? Or should I retest? Trying to save the money if I can but I definitely want to make sure Im able to get into my program. Thank you for any help!

	Hello,

I have a question about sending TEAS scores to multiple schools.

One school I am applying to requires the TEAS be taken at that school. The ATI website states "Restricted Access. School applicants only." for the test at that school.

I also received a vague response from someone at the school indicating the TEAS is only good for that school.

Does anyone know if these issues will prevent my score from being available after taking the test and from purchasing the transcript to send to other schools I would like to apply to?

I previously took the TEAS a few years ago and had no issue viewing my score in the ATI website after finishing the test and purchasing a transcript to send the scores to other schools.

	Thank you!

Also i dont understand how this test is scored because i got 9 wrong on the reading section and that should of been an 81percent not 74.5 percent none of it added up to me? Not only that, but the break down of the scores seemed wrong as well. For the science section i did not get a score on the science reasoning i spoke with the proctor as well as the ati service center and they said i must have left those blank which i did not. Yea i purposely went through the exam and paid $70 and just left them blank. B.S. Maybe I am wrong I hope I am because Im not even going to retry a second go if the scores are rigged.

NURSING SCHOOL TEAS APPLICATION Spring 2023

How common is it to score a full 100 on the TEAS? Is it unheard of? I can’t seem

to find any stats anywhere on what the scores are per year (for eg). Does anyone know if those stats exist? I know the mean but not the range or the number or % for each score. Thanks!
