teaching cna students with only psych background

I'm teaching lecture and skills to CNA students in a technical HS. They were learning primarily via computer lecture but now I'm being told to physically teach them skills. I have a class of 25 students. Any advice on teaching skills to such a large class? Also, I have no M/S background and was honest about that from the start. Stlll, the expectations are for me to teach CNA skills. I'm buying Lippincott's Clinical Manual of Skills and Procedures but I'm not sure that's enough.

Hopefully, you have videos of the skills to look at or some way to help you learn the skills. The 24 skills that may be tested on the state CNA exam should have a booklet that will be a help to you too. (I'm talking about the booklets which share how the CNA exam will test them on skills, and also includes other content regarding their testing.) To review skills myself for more detail, I sometimes looked at videos on U-tube also, since some CNA or nursing schools have these online. To show skills to the groups I've had, I would have them gather around as I demonstrated a few skills and encourage note-taking. Then I divided them up in groups of 2-4 people. They would rotate through some skills stations, and take turns being the student, "teacher," and patient. They learned a lot by teaching/correcting other students, as well as doing it themselves. They each had a copy of the booklets that shared how the state was testing them, which the "teachers" and "patients" would refer to in order to correct students. I went around to make sure they were doing skills correctly, and answering questions.

I was in a similar situation and found that Mosby's CNA video set was VERY helpful. It's great too because they do the skills on real people. I was nervous about teaching CNAs since I had no long term care experience and was even more nervous about doing clinicals with them. After my first group, though, it was fine. MY lack of LTC experience really hasn't hindered me at all. Feel free to message me if I can help in any way. I know it can be daunting at first!
