Hey, just wanted to know if there were any fellow Tarrant County College pre-nursing students out there? Just thought perhaps we could share ideas, rants, even commiserate w/ one another! :D

Hi took all my pre nursing classes at TCC. What classes are you taking now.

Hi took all my pre nursing classes at TCC. What classes are you taking now.

I just took Chemistry 1406 and passed w/ an 85. I already had 60 credit hours from UNT from 10+ years ago. I'm in A/P I , Interpersonal Communications (speech), and Life Span development. All while working 40 hrs/wk!

Sounds like you have a pretty good load on your hands. Which campus do you attend. I took mostly all of my pre-reqs online. The sciences I took on campus tho.

I am at NW right now and taking 2 online classes. As soon as my husband had full time work again, I will probably go to work part time thus ensuring good grades and getting into the program.

When do you think you will be able to apply. I applied for this upcoming fall semester

@ vcurrin I should be able to apply for the Spring start...gotta finish microbiology this summer (ick!) and do the background ck thing, take the TEAS AND PASS! I'm busting my rear end and very nervous about the whole situation, but I'm positive I will get into the program. Oh, yeah, I do have to take a/p II also this summer. I'm really psyched about getting into the program and being a nurse. I have this gut feeling that this is where I need to be going...I feel like I'm headed in the right direction. Are you still taking pre-reqs?

Hello,

I'm also taking my pre requesites at TCC. I have completed all with the exception of AP2 and Chem which I'm currently enrolled in, and will take Micro in the summer or fall. If I get the guts to take it in the summer, summer will be. I hope to apply to the program either fall for spring start or Spring for a fall start. I just joined today to reply to your post. Hopefully this will bring more TCC pre nursing students to reply.:)

I took my a and p 1 and mirco in a summer session. It was intense but I liked it, because it was over in 6 weeks. LOL.

Wow, both in one summer session... Good for you. I don't know if I could do it. I have two little ones at home. I could maybe swing 1 but definitely not two. When I start nursing school. One of my kids will be in Kinder and the other will likely be in pre-school maybe it will be better then. It has to be...

So, did you apply this semester?

I'm sure that you'll do just fine if you keep a positive outlook and remember why you started taking these classes. chem is hard, sure, but I'm told to take my 'B' and run, to consider it a victory. One of our patients in the office I work for was one of the first nurses to graduate TCC's nursing program I think back in the late '70's. She is awesome and very encouraging. I have had nothing but encouragement about becoming a nurse, especially from those that I know that are already in the nursing field. I myself will be taking classes in the summer because by then I will be working only part time with the support of my loving, understanding hubby! Kudos to him and all my family and friends backing me up!:yeah:

It has been difficult, but I have a strong and supportive network of family and friends, even the patients at our office are very encouraging! I have to say that organization is key and to know how to prioritize things and when to ask for help. My kids are 10 and 11 (going on 25!lol!) and they are smart and self reliant for many things. We had a family meeting and restructured chores and such so that I could concentrate more on school and less about the house! I still do dinner, but all the rest is up to my family. My mom also helps w/ the kids and has them at her house a mile away while I'm studying so I do get a break every now and then. Taking a/p on saturdays does help because I have time after lab to study while my friend ( who gets out later than me) finishes up in class. It's quiet on the weekend and I really enjoy that. My a/p instructor is really cool and he used to be a doctor. He gives us practical scenarios for the a/p concepts so we can tie them to real life. I'm just thankful that I started this post. I enjoy hearing about how others are dealing w/ the same situations as myself. Glad to meet all of y'all!:D
