TAMUCC Fall 2017 Accelerated BSN

Published

I didn't see a thread for Fall 2017- anyone else applying for Fall?

I take the HESI next week and have been studying like crazy!

I know it is a competitive program, I am super nervous!

Does anyone know when they will start notifying students of acceptance/rejection?

I am! I've been studying pretty diligently as well. I really want to get into this program. Do you know if it's SUPER competitive? I looked at their average hesi/GPA and they're not too taunting.

Have you taken the HESI? How was it and how did you do?

HI! Yes, I just took the Hesi this past week and submitted my formal application. I spoke to my advisor and he sounded hopeful based on my stats... so I am crossing my fingers I get accepted!

Here is my info

GPA: 3.33

Science GPA- 4.0

Hesi Reading: 94

Hesi Critical thinking: 900

Hesi Cumulative: 89.43

Wow! That's really good!

How did you study for the Hesi and how was it?

My overall is a 3.58 but my science goals is a bit low, it's a 2.8 I believe.

I bought the Elsevier Hesi study book and used the Pocket Prep app. Both of those helped alot, the questions were all very similar in context and format. The test wasnt so bad but I studied for about a month and did all the practice tests in the book and that I could find online.

I've been doing a lot of practice tests online, and I have been using some apps as well as watching a lot of YouTube videos and writing notes. Many people say they used the book which scares me. I have the TEAS book and have been studying from that since it's the same material. I just hope I get in the 90's on my HESI because I will need it. I also hope my science GPA won't hurt me much.

Do you know if they look at the essay portion on nursingcas?

There is no essay portion on the app for TAMUCC

Really? Oh wow. I kind of wish that there was.

So I talked to someone in the nursing dept, out of curiosity I felt like I needed to ask what the minimum requirements were.

She said that the minimum requirement for your overall is a 3.5 and for science it's a 3.25. But, when I looked at the website it said that that was "ideal criteria", and also one cohort's GPA average was well below that criteria so I'm confused now.

You should call and talk directly to your advisor for the program. The minimum GPA is a 3.0, but Im sure they can go over everything with you and answer any questions you may have :)

This is copy and pasted from the Texas A&M cc website "Minimum overall GPA to be eligible to apply for admission to the nursing major is 3.0. Prior to registration, students need to contact the nursing academic advisor to assist in degree planning."

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the tip! How do I contact a nursing advisor?

Hey! I also applied for the fall! I'm so anxious to find something out! For anyone curious, here are my stats:

Hesi: 87.7

Critical Thinking: 880

GPA: 3.53

Science GPA: 3.76

I scored low on the A&P portion of the hesi (80%), but I made a 96 in the bio section and an 88 in the chem section so hopefully that helps! :)
