Tall thin woman - what brand?

Published

Hi!

I'm a newly graduated, newly licensed RN, and I'm looking for some help in expanding my collection of scrubs (currently: 2 pairs). I'm 6' tall, I weigh 150#, and I usually wear a size 7/8 pant. I buy jeans with a 34" inseam. I have a little bit of a butt, but not much. I've been to one of the local scrub stores, and there's only one brand there that looks remotely OK on me - Cherokee tall flare pants look OK, but the hems of the flared part drag on the ground a little (even though they claim the inseam is only 33.5"). Plus, I have mediums, and I have to retie the drawstring about 30 times a day or they start to slip off. I've never been a small in my life, maybe all their sizes just run really big? I'm looking for functional more than fashionable, so I need pockets, but I also don't want to look like total crap. I wound up wearing men's pants in school, since I never did find tall pants in white at the local stores (too many students having to buy them, I think). I'd love suggestions for brand ideas! Thanks all!

I don't know if they make talls, but Barco, Metro, and Dickies are all geared towards the junior build.

What do you mean by "junior build"? Does it mean tall/slim in some parts of the country? I haven't heard that term before...I know the juniors section of department stores, but I'll be 30 this year so I quit shopping there a long time ago. I've tried on some Dickies styles and they don't seem to fit me right. Appreciate the suggestion though, and I can look into the other two.

The junior size is a 7, the misses, an 8. Misses' are cut longer in the rise - crotch to waist - and have a wider hip/waist ration than junior cuts.

As an example, my measurements, as a kid, were 35 - 21 - 42. I couldn't wear a junior cut at 14.

:)

Gotcha, thanks! Most of my pants actually say, "7/8," so I'm not sure what style they are. I'm not the most clothing conscious person out there...Anyone else have suggestions for really tall women who are also on the slender side? I'm going to go try more on today and see what I can find.

That's junior sixzing, hence the recommendations.

:)

I wear Cherokee Work Wear, flare leg. Yes, they do drag on the ground a bit sometimes. I wear a 7/8 also, but in Cherokee scrubs I have to order a size small.

Was unaware of the sizing thing, sorry. I know absolutely nothing about clothes or fashion. Anyways, I went to a uniform store yesterday. My only option, as usual, was Cherokee. Just like the other local store, they don't carry any other brands in tall. I tried on small and extra small in tall (extra small?? I'm not that skinny!!). Both fit, but I figured the extra small was a little tight for work. I got the only pair they had in small tall that was flared, and now I'll have to order more online, I guess. Does anyone know of any other brands that are made for tall thin people? Thanks!

Hi,

Try aviatorscrubs.com or scrubmed.com

Hope this helps. I am 5'10" and weigh 130. I know how difficult it is to find clothes that actually fit.

I'm not super tall but I have long legs and I like Koi brand scrubs, which they make in Tall. I suspect you won't find them in the store (at least not Talls) but you could try ordering them online. The Talls say the inseam is 33" and I wear mine about 2" below the belly button so they might work for you. They have several styles but I LOVE the Lindsey cargo pant. For size comparison I'm 5'7" tall and weigh about 130 pounds and their size Small fits me very well. Google Koi scrubs and you'll find them.

My tall friend also said Cherokee.

I feel your pain. I'm 5'11", 145 lbs, and I wear a size 2. http://www.urbanewarehouse.com has some REALLY long scrub pants that are 37" inseam unhemmed. LOVE LOVE LOVE them. They're reasonably priced (only $18.99 a pair), come in like 20 colors, and they ship really quick.
