Wow! Thats a lot to handle!! I think if you are very dedicated and you study enough and work hard that you can pass these classes. 3 labs and 3 lectures a week. It sounds hard, and then the information is condensed sense its summer. I could see taking 2 sciences classes, but 3 I think is a bit much. Do you have to take all 3 sciences classes at the same time?? Im guessing those are your last 3 pre-requisites? I think it really depends on you. I hear A&P is not an easy class. Good luck with whatever you decide!

I would not do it. That's just me, though. They are very hard classes on their own, much less all three together. Who advised you to do this??
Best wishes!

I would be concerned too...my concern for you is that these classes are extremely important and by taking 3 in a condensed format (summer) you will not get the information you need from any of the classes. You will get there in your own time...relax! I know it is hard to hear this but now that I am at the point of starting school, in hindsight, it is the very best advice I was given and can pass on...Good Luck!
Wanted to come back and say...
DON'T blow your GPA!!! Your grades will stick with you forever (almost). You have a better chance of getting into NS with GOOD grades, not by cramming 3 sciences into one (summer) semester. No sense in rushing. You're young, you have plenty of time. :)

A year ago I took A&P 2, Microbiology and Pathophysiology during the same semester. It was absolutely horrible, and I was a complete wreck the whole time. I managed to do it, and did okay - but not great. I pulled an A and two B's which was a hit on my GPA, but I was lucky to have already been accepted to a program so my grades did not matter as much. Know your limits, and don't rush more than you have to. If you have a lot of responsibilities outside of school it is probably too much. But, if you don't have a family to take care of or a job, then you may be able to do great with some good time management skills. Either way good luck! :)

If it makes you feel better, I took biochem II, microbiology & A&P II (and all three classes had labs) all in one semester. It was tough but at the same time I felt that the material from each of the classes sort of "overlapped" each other - and at times it really helped to have three different instructors explain it to you, especially if one doesn't do a good job explaining it. you will be studying a lot but stay positive! I know you can do this and it will be worth it in the end. Good luck!

Oh my goodness....that would have been GPA suicide for me! I spread those courses out over three semesters and I am glad I did. The material from those classes does come back to haunt you in the nursing courses, so please make sure you do well and learn the stuff.
Wishing you luck.

I took A&P II and Micro in one semester and it was OK, but sciences come really easy to me. Also, all of my A&P tests were online except the mid term and final, so that helped (a lot of people still failed!!!!). I would get lots of notecards and make some after every lecture, so you can just constantly study the material, because it is a lot of memorizing. Get one color of cards for each subject to keep yourself straight. Or do one for each body system whatever works for you. I made my own anatomy notecards at kinkos by coping pics out of my A&P book onto notecards and then highlighting bones/muscles/ect. They looked really good (my classmates were jealous) and they really helped. Also just making them was studing!!! My micro class was much harder than A&P. I really fought for my A in that one. See if you can tape your lectures, maybe that will help!! Good luck!!!!

mostly from A&P, and maybe a little bit from microbiology. from biochem? not so much lol
I have used chem in fluid/electrolyte balance among many other things. We were required to take Gen Chem and Organic Chem before getting into the program. So, yes, all of my prereq/coreq courses have been put to use again in my nursing curriculum!
