Hi I am taking my RN nclex for the 2nd time. What are some good study nclex books.I ordered Saunders 6th Edition, but is wondering should I just do that whole book and questions or buy the ncsbn online prep also. I must admit my first go around I didnt really study( due to hardship), and had to take my exam before the ATT expired. Now I got my life back in order and is ready to tackle this exam. Sugestions please. Also wen i go to study I cant study over an hour day, it feels like Im cramming

i don't know how others done it to succeed, but this is how i did it, passed easy with 75 questions 1st time. get kaplan. my friend did hurst, he failed, did kaplan, passed 2nd time with 75 questions.
when you get kaplan, you can go to seminar, but what really really helped me was the question banks, question trainers, and etc. do all of them and if you get question wrong, make sure to google about it; for example, that's how what sengstaken blakemore was and what is the most important thing to know about it as a nurse. about kaplan tree that they teach you at seminar, some people do well with it, but i hated it and got worse grade using it, so whether to use it or not is up to you. good luck
Anyone used nscbn review or remar review, if so how was it? Trying to find another review along with my Saunders and Lacharity

I tried using ncsbn, didn't like it too much. Their diagnostic exam doesn't tell you what areas to focus on, and their questions are too easy. Went back to Kaplan and passed.

I bought the ncsbn 2 weeks before my exam ($50). I used it to review on content that I needed to brush up on. I didn't go through every course in detail, but I did do every post test and about a third of the test bank. It was harder than the nclex imo. I think it is worth the $50
I also used the Kaplan strategies book ($30 at B&N). The questions in it are super easy but it has a nice 265q test in it, as well as 160q test on the disc. I saved the disc test to do exactly 24 hours before my test to get me in the mode. I had a few questions on nclex that I only knew because of the Kaplan test I took the day before. This book is well worth the $$! The disc questions are very similar to actual nclex
These were the only 2 resources I primarily used and it worked out very well for me, 75 qs! I had saunder's 5th edition with disc that I used during nursing school, but I didn't find it very helpful for actual nclex. The questions are very content based. Some will swear by it, but that's just my personal opinion.
Good luck!
Thanks for the input praying i pass on this time around which will be may second time testing
Im doing Saunders for content, its just so much, I have the Kaplan book and Im planning reading cover to cover, I may take a shot at that ncsbn for 3 wks for $50, and thinking about 1 more purchase which is the remars quick facts, hopefully i pass on my second try, especially being that I test 2 days after XMAS

DONT BUY NCSBN It's GARBAGE!!! my school paid for it for the a month I believe tried using it and I didn't like the content and the questions are NOT nclex style questions. It leans more towards content info if you ask me. Don't waste your money. The Saunders comprehensive books is good. I preferred it over the Kaplan book just because I felt like the kaplan book just listed the info. I didn't read it from cover to cover because that was too much cramming but I looked up things I got wrong on kaplan and topics I didn't know much about like psych and maternity
Make sure that you do plenty of priority questions and now your precautions and what types each disease needs. There's a wonderful mneumonic somewhere on this site that has the my chicken hez tb, spiderman, etcetera for each precaution. It helped me tremendously on nclex. I knew all of them because of those mneumonics!
stick to one resource, a lot of people fail by trying to study saunders, hurst, remar and kaplan or a combination of those. You overwhelm and confuse yourself with varying info. If you want a good and concise content review use the RN Content Review Guide by Kaplan, its the purple one. Use trainers 4-7 to give yourself an idea of how you'll do on NCLEX (aim for 65%).
