Taking Human Anatomy and Physiology I & Introductory Chem at the Same Time?

Published

Hello all,

Does anyone have experience taking anatomy & physiology I and introductory chemistry together? I will need to take these two classes together in order to finish my prerequisites on time. Am I overthinking these two courses or do you not recommend? Any experience taking any form of chemistry and anatomy and physiology simultaneously is greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

I took them together. Intro chem was not hard but a lot of busy work, at least in my class. A&P obviously takes a lot of studying; A&PI is mostly memorization in my opinion. A&PII is more physiology, and requires even more studying so that you can understand how the systems work together. I took that one with microbiology. Then I took organic chemistry at the same time as pathophysiology. Anyway, it is totally doable. I maintained a 4.0 in my classes.

if they are the only two classes you are taking during say a summer semester it is not rough

It's definitely doable. I took A&P 1 and General Chemistry 1 this past fall. For a while I thought I must be nuts, especially since I was just returning to school after several years. I was able to get a B in both classes. I could've done even better, but had gotten sick during the semester and had surgery to remove my gallbladder...so I missed out almost 2 weeks, which seems like a month worth of work in these classes. So anyways, that just goes to show that once you're dedicated and able to put in the time necessary to study you will do just fine.

I'm currently finishing a&p 102 and chem 101. It is a LOT of information, but if you put your mind to it and breathe, you can do it. You may feel SUPER worn out mid way, I know I did. But it feels so good to be here. Just hoping I will make a high enough score on my finals now to not have to retake chem. I have done them both online and that made chem seem SUPER frustrating as well.
