Taking your family with you

I am considering starting to travel. I was wondering if anyone here travels with their family? If you do how big is your family and how does that work with the contract you receive?

It doesn't affect the contract unless you want it to. You have to picture compensation as one pot of money as it is all based on an all inclusive bill rate the agency gets for every hour you work. So you cannot get more or less compensation based on your personal needs as the agency cannot bill the hospital more.

For example, you may need another bedroom if you choose provided housing, and the extra cost can come out of your check or your hourly rate could be a little lower to compensate for that extra cost.

I had a friend who travelled with her stay-at-home husband and two elementary-school aged children. Her husband homeschooled the kids while she was working, so when she wasn't working they were free to explore the tourist attractions of the area. He was a history buff, so they visited a lot of historical landmarks, and the kids were able to relate that to their studies. (I remember their son telling me about how the Battle of Gettysburg was affected by the terrain, which they'd just come from seeing the last time I saw them.) The last year they traveled, they bought an RV so that they didn't have to keep moving in and out of apartments. They were all happier with that arrangement, although it didn't save them any money.

One of my coworkers just left to go traveling with HER husband. I don't know what he does for a living, only that he isn't going to be doing it while they travel, so she'll be supporting him. I'm not sure what their goals are, whether it's just to see the country or whether they're checking out various areas to see if they'd like to move there permanently.
