Taking Chem and Bio in the same semester?

Published

So I've got to knock out intro bio with a lab and an intro chem class with a lab before taking my main science pre reqs for nursing school.

Have any of you successfully done chem and bio in the same semester? Too much?

Thanks!

I am taking General biology and General chemistry with lab. I am slowly suffering in chemistry, so far my average is a B-. My biology grade is an A.

I think that chemistry is really hard even though it should be easy because we get tested on two chapters each month. Still, its the labs and endless calculations and algebra that gets me. Even though its hard for me, its still really doable.

Thanks...it's been a long time since doing science courses....chemistry is not one of my favs either!

I was in a similar situation not too long ago, out of college for a while & required to take those classes (both with lab) before eligible to take anatomy...etc. I took both classes at the same time and struggled at bit initially. It became smooth sailing once I got a grip on instructor lecturing & exam styles. I've noticed on certain occasions, they complement each other well. For example, my bio instructor didn't explain the phospholipid bilayer arrangement (in regards to polarity) well but my chem instructor explained it very clearly during chem polarity. I think it's definitely doable if you study diligently and take advantage of your available resources (tutoring, office hours, friends, google...etc). It should also be beneficial in improving your study & time management skills, which will be vital during nursing school. Good luck!

I think it's definitely doable! I've never been in the situation but this upcoming semester I'm taking APII and and an intro Chem both with labs and I've seen others on here do that so you will be fine! Good luck hon!

Thanks! I'll give it a try....I'm hoping by January my 5 month old is sleeping better!!!! I think I can, I think I can....

Unfortunately, there is no guarantee on their sleeping..LOL but enjoy it now....when they are teenagers it's no where near as fun! It's not even fun..lol:sstrs::lol2:

I'm currently taking A/PII and Chem at the same time. It was a little overwhelming at first but my A/P teacher is HARD! Chem is just a dirty word for MATH, lol which I don't really have problems in. I'm currently getting in A in both classes but I'm working my butt off for it. It's doable - I'm glad I did it because it saved me an entire semester in the long run. GOOD LUCK!!

They compliment each other well. You should do fine.

I am doing microbiology and physiology together this spring.

I did microbiology and gen chem 1 and pharmacology the same semester, I was nuts but got through it with 2 A and a b (ugh pharm) you can do it, I was just crazy to get into the nursing dept and overloaded myself, You will feel overwhelmed at first but you'll catch on.

Good luck

Yikes, chem, micro and pharm in the same semester? You are brave! But I do understand the motivation!!
