Hi everyone,
I was hoping for a little guidance/advice, if anyone had any? I'm an NP working at a major hospital in pediatrics. I have been at my job for about 2 years and am starting to think about changing positions. There are a few that I can apply for at the same hospital....has anyone done this? I'm a little bit concerned because I don't want my current team/boss to find out that I'm applying, but the peds world isn't such a big place so it seems like a possibility. But if I didn't get another position, I would be fine staying where I am, so I don't necessarily want them to know I'm looking around...
Any thoughts?
Thank you!

I would be upfront about it. I have always found that being upfront and explaining why you are considering applying for other positions helps with the transition is a good thing. There are rare cases where bosses are jerks about it, but usually that is because they are a jerk to begin with.

As above.
Also, you could probably have an informal chat with the head of the other departments and get a sense of whether there may there is a mutual interest.
