how long does it take for the average undergraduate to become a surgical nurse and what are some programs i can do to help me get there

You need to get a nursing degree and then pass NCLEX. Applying for a surgical position is the same as applying for any specialty- find a posted position, fill out the application, and include any other documents the facility requests. I'm assuming that by surgical nurse you mean working in the OR with patients undergoing surgery, so you may also wish to join AORN as a student- they do offer a student discount. There are no specific programs to graduate as a surgical nurse; all pre-licensure programs are a generalist nursing program.
