Suggestions for NCLEX reviewing

Published

Hi everyone, unfortunately I need some suggestions on what to do. I guess I should start by telling you that I have failed the NCLEX-RN twice now and I need to figure out which books or programs are the best to aid me in passing this time. The first time I took the NCLEX I used NCLEX-RN made incredibly easy and a other sources for questions and did approximately 3500 questions and failed with 82 questions. :crying2: The second time I used Saunders Comprehensive Review, I got through about 75% of the book. I failed with 265 questions. :crying2:

What do you suggest, I have heard lots of people say the Saunders Comprehensive that I have, I have also heard that the Kaplan Online program is good and the Mosby's CAT is a good source of questions. My question, is the Kaplan Online program worth the money? Do I pay the $400 or do I try other sources?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I don't know what to do!!!!!

Thanks in advance,

Heather

You say that you got thru 75% of the Saunder's book, were you just reading it or were you doing the questions from the CD? You do not say anything about doing any questions.............were you doing any, if so how many?

There is absolutely no reason that you can not get thru the exam by using just Saunders. You just need to use it properly.

I will be happy to help you, but you need to tell me exactly how you were preparing before I can set up a program for you.

listen to suzanne ithink saunders helped alotby doing 100 or so questions a day! alsothe NCSBN review course on learning.ext is alsoreally helpfultobrush upon knowledge and do questions as well i thouhgt theyre questions resembled nclex themost but sauders definetly helped me critical think more. ucan purchase the ncsbn review for 4 weeks at 49 dollars a pretty good price or 7 weeks at 80 dollars. i usedthat and saunders comprhensive and saunders strategiesfor success and ipassed. GOOD LUCK

Suzanne,

I PM'd you.

Thank you,

Heather

HI I just received my book today do you recommed doing the questions on the CD first????

Yes, do that.

Try to get 100 done per day if you are taking the exam this summer. As you get thru each set of questions take the time to review the rationale behind each and every answer, both the correct choices, as well as why the others were not chosen.

You should have at least 3000 to 4000 done before you take your exam.

I think I'm going to move my test date up. I take my test in 13 days. I have been studing my delmar and doing the online eri assessments, but I'm nervous now. I feel really good about taking the test, I may be over confident :uhoh3: Thanks a bunch for the info!!!

I do not know anything about Delmar.

How confident are you feeling?

How many questions have you actually gotten done?

How familiar are you with herbal medications?

Asthmatic medications....different treatments for diabetes, and the time table for each and every insulin?

Disaster planning and triage?

Oh! I forgot to mention I'm taking NCLEX- PN

Only about 1200 question. Not familiar with Diaster planning and triage nor herbal medications. I just graduated August 1 2005.

I would not take the exam before doing at least 3000 questions.

1200 is not nearly enough. Just my opinion.

You have more work to do and I do not think that you should move your date up at all. I would deriously think of delaying it.
