Stupid Question I Guess............

Published

Ok... so I have done alot of thinking and apparently, due to time and money issues, taking the LPN to RN route is whats going to work best for me. My question is this tho......... what is the major difference between an LPN certificate and an LPN degree?

I ask because the only time I have to go to school is at nite, and the only school that is offering nite courses for LPN gives a certificate and "a test similar to the nclex-pn".

I know it is probably a stupid thing to ask, but can someone please clarify this for me? Thanks!

OOO alsoooooooooo...... if you have an LPN certificate... can you still do LPN to RN.... possibly even online???

Specializes in ICU, PICC Nurse, Nursing Supervisor.

what do you mean "test similar to the nclex-pn"... there is no substitution for this test. some lvn's are able to obtain a aas degree but most have a certificate. either way the end is the same they take the same nclex and have the same job description.

The objective of the Licensed Practical Nursing Science Program is to prepare an individual to enter the medical field in the capacity of a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Opportunities exist in the hospital setting, long-term care facilities, nursing homes, and elder day-care centers. Graduates are eligible to sit for the exam (or an exam similar to) offered by the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN).
