working full time?

  1. I'm not starting until fall 2007, but I was planning on doing some pool or agency shifts here and there as time allows while I'm in school. However, I've met two people that actually work full time during anesthesia school and are doing well. What gives? Is the no-working thing just hype?

I don't know where they go to school, but I can tell you that no one in my program is working even part-time. Two people worked a few weekends during the first quarter and that was it. We spend 70-80 hours a week either in class, clinical, or studying and I just don't see how anyone could work, especially full-time.

Piper, you could maybe do the every weekend thing after the Spring of your junior year, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you completely want to give up your social life!!! I work like 2 days a month and still manage to see my friends occasionally and get my studying done. I am one of 3 people who are still working, and we are all part-time. I wouldn't recommend working more than a few times a month if you want your sanity.
