Nursing Students SRNA

Who can tell me what? Has anyone interviewed at the program. How many applicants are they accepting per year. Is this the first class?

Thank you

I saw today that their undergraduate program is being placed on probation. I don't know how this will affect their CRNA program. Here's the link:

I just interviewed and was accepted at UM (and will be attending in Aug 2008). I know they are graduating their first class Dec 2008 and so they have been around for 2 years or so...

anyone else in my class???

oops... i mean 2007 - working nights=tired!

Hey,

just a little warning! before you apply to UM do some research. The whole nursing school (anesthesia is part of nursing) was placed under probation for cheating. board passing % is low. so just keep heads up!! wouldnt want you applying and getting in without looking into this.

well, sometimes it takes going on probation to get things headed in the right direction. The cheating and NCLEX scores were bad - but the school is doing 10x more to make it better. Try to think positive and give them a chance to rectify things....

(and tuition remission is unbeatable)

well, i am only trying to relay the correct information. the program is expensive and i would be very upset if i were going there and this was occuring. so, i was only giving what i thought would be the appropriate response. believe me, researching anesthesia schools is extrememly important before deciding where to go.

Hi. I will actually be starting in UM's Anesthesia Program this AUG (2007)!!! :welcome:

I'm a current Junior SRNA at UM. I have to say that the media didn't do a great job at educating the public that measures have already been in put in place (at least a year or two ago) to rectify the problem (and it was an undergrad problem).

I love the program. We are the only school that has Jackson Memorial as a clinical site (including many others). I assure you that I would not change my decision to go to UM for anything! :)

We also just got a new director who is a very well-known and respected CRNA. I truly believe that the program is heading in a great direction.

Anyway, I just wanted to throw that out there :) Good luck!

Hey Happy SRNA

That is good to hear that you like UM...esp since I am moving many miles from Pennsylvania & away from my family to go to school there~! Anyway, what's it really like? I know it's going to be a tough two and half years, no doubt, but do you feel it's doable? Any advice you have for me would be greatly appreciated. Just curious, do they have PDA programs on the booklist or ones that they recommend? B/c I was considering setting mine up with some Anesthesia programs, but I don't want to do too much in case they want us to have certain programs as a class. By a Junior, do you mean that you started Fall 2006? It was good hearing from you..talk to you soon hopefully.

Amanda

Hey Amanda,

Really, the program is very doable. All anesthesia programs seem to take more of a psychological toll on you versus a physical one. (though it does that too) It is a LOT of work in a short period of time. You don't just learn matierial and regurgitate it for a test. The goal is to master the material.

I started last fall. I am enjoying clinicals. The faculty is great. I would love to talk to you about books, etc. I don't think I can give out my info on this forum, so email Rossana (Marlene is away) and ask her for my email. :)

Hi,

I was wondering if there was a way of finding out what the board passing percentage rate is for the different CRNA schools? Is this information available somewhere?
