University of Maryland CRNA 2018 Start Date

Nursing Students SRNA

Hey Guys! I applied to the UMD CRNA program to start June 2018. I just wanted to start a thread here for people to post any news that they hear about their application, questions about the process, etc. I'm also curious about what everyone's stats are, i.e. GPA, years of experience, certs, etc. Good Luck to everyone!

If I remember correctly that displays once you have submitted everything. That phrase will haunt you over the next few months. Your interview request will come via the email you submitted in your application. Be on the lookout for and email offering an interview with a few dates to select from. I would assume the interview request could come out anytime, but as I mentioned in an earlier post I received mine in October. I know the waiting game is hard right now, but soon things will really get hectic. Good luck to all of you.

here are a few hints that will help you prepare for your interview (if I think of more later I will post):

- Go to the AANA website and read up on current events and probably familiarize yourself with them.

- be able to speak to why you want to become a CRNA.

- know what a CRNA does (hint: it's not puting people to sleep)

- wear a business suit, this is your first and only impression you will give them, so don't waste it trying to make a fashion statement. Dress like a CEO, it will make you more confident.

- sitdown and write out some possible questions you would ask someone if you were the program director. Brainstorm through and develop a solid response. I did about 40 questions. Now the tough part begins, you will want to look in a full length mirror and start answering your questions. Pay attention to your posture, eye contact, body language, and try not to say "ummm" between every word.

- as I have mentioned before if you get an interview try to relax, they selected you so on paper they know you can make it through the program. Now they want to get to know you, the only reason to be nervous at this point is if you are not worth getting to know.

- I hope this helps a little, I have been in your shoes and remember the feeling of excitement mixed with uncertainty. Don't worry that feeling will go away, just kidding it never goes away, maybe after graduation.

EspinozaCVICU, just wanted to follow up on a previous post you had. It seems as if you were military. This program seems to have a lot of people who are prior service. Probably 80% of faculty and maybe 40% of the students, including myself.

Well, thank you again Spurs_up for the advice, very much appreciated! That is great to know there is such a dense concentration of former military up there! I do feel that having been in the military, I have a unique set of experiences; many of which cannot be duplicated and/or replicated in any other walk of life. As I'm sure you can attest to. The degree of maturity, determination, fortitude, critical thinking, and all other characteristics instilled within me during my service, have continually served me well in my professional life. I very much look forward to an interview up your way; if such is God's will!

Thank you, again, kindly

I Applied since July 21st. GPA 3.6, 1 year MICU (but at a really small community hospital), so not the greatest ICU experience I think. BLS, ACLs. I'm not too hopeful to be honest lol. My application status states : Completed Committee ready, and on decision it states: committee ready. However, I already got accepted to Midwestern University in Arizona. I will most likely be going there if MD university doesn't pan out. Goodluck to everyone.

Hi everyone. I'm 1 year SICU, 2.5yrs NCCU (but seven years in nursing total) I have my CCRN, took the two pre-req classes, and am in the process of becoming an ACLS instructor. My undergrad GPA was only 3.2.

Just got an invitation to interview today!

I got an invitation to interview as well. Good luck to everyone! So excited!

I got invited to interview today as well!

Just out of curiousity - did any of you apply to other schools?

Do you mind me asking where did you get your experience? Trauma center? Small hospital?

I work at a level 1 academic medical center.

Oh and a huge congratulations on landing an interview! Good luck!

Since some have received their invitation to interview, does that mean that those who have not YET, will not be interviewing???

Do you have any tips for interviews?
