Hello Allnurses,
I was recently hired as a Professional Student Nurse at Children's Memorial Hermann in the TMC. The entire hiring process was long, and boy is it HARD to get a job these days! As soon as my semester was over in the Spring I began applying for multiple PCA positions all around Houston. I wanted to have some type of healthcare job to be able to include in my resume come graduation, which is only a year away. Anyway, I was blessed enough to have come across this opportunity. I was beginning to feel discouraged when I was offered this position. The interview was probably one of the toughest I'd ever had, and am I the only one whose self-perception has become a little distorted because of nursing school?! Haha, I'm sure not. I walked out of the interview not knowing how to take it. I felt as if I had just taken an exam. "Although the responses I gave were right, they may have not been the most right!" Sure enough, I was contacted a day later with an employee offer letter. EEK! I was ecstatic. The hiring process took 3 weeks. It didn't feel real until I went to get my urine, blood, and Respirator Awareness & Fit Test.
So, now I start soon. I am wondering if anyone else is or has been employed as a Professional Student Nurse. And, if so, could you lend me some pointers that can help me be successful in this position?
Thanks in advance.
Quiller

So I recently applied for a similar position at a different Hermann and was wondering if you could tell me more about the hiring and interview process?
