student to nurse transition

I am a nursing student just finishing up. I was wondering if anybody had any ideas on what they wish they would have known while a student?

That it is ok to ask for help! You dont know everything as a new grad (or ever) and annoying a collegue for help is better than hurting the pt or yourself ASK for help with turns you will hurt both you and the patient.

Also blankets have mannnnny uses......makeshift pillows, draught excluders when it is discovered that there is a crack in the window seal at 2 in the morning, to prop a wonky table up, vital for a ward Christmas display to depict snow and for making patients warm!!!

P.S laughter is the best medicine!!! If you can have a giggle with your co-workers or a patient the day is much better!!
