Simmons FNP Sept 2017

Nursing Students NP Students

Beyond excited to start my journey of becoming a FNP at Simmons College this September. I have to take the Biology Bridge Course which I'll take in May. Has anyone applied for this cohort, or plan to apply? Accepted? Goodluck to all.

I was accepted as well. What is the bio bridge?

I believe it's called Biology for Nursing Professionals. It's a course you take if you're missing a science. I've never taken chemistry but I took biochemistry. Congrats. Will you be full time or part time?

Part time which for most programs is like full time lol. Oh and congrats

Thanks, have you joined the Admitted Nursing@Simmons group on facebook? Lots of helpful info. I'm thinking of starting a group for the September cohort, just want to make sure no one has started one yet.

I, too, am starting Simmons this fall, and I, too, am taking the bridge course in May. I had originally selected to start the program in May and my admissions counselor was trying to get me to enroll in the bridge for March, but I'm not ready. Yikes! I have all of my sciences finished and I still have to take the bridge. I asked my admissions counselor why I was taking it and he told me it was because I got a C in physiology. Oh well, I guess I could use the refresher since I was pregnant at the time and missed my final, yada, yada, yada. Still its an expensive refresher.

Anyhoo, I'm excited, yet nervous, yet concerned for the financial aspects as well.

I also applied to UTMB and found out after waiting for 3 months that my application was basically just sitting in the atmosphere. Had I not called, it would still be there. So I have to wait another couple of weeks for a decision on them. It's significantly cheaper than Simmons, so I was hoping to get a decision before the deposit deadline came.

I'm part time as well....gotta keep money coming in.

The cost almost held me back too but in the Facebook group I'm in, there are more people who are happy with their choice than those who are not. Everyone has also said they feel real prepared in clinicals and simmons does a good job at preparing u. I've also read that the bridge course is a good refresher for patho and we will have a slight advantage going into patho. Hopefully u choose simmons. Im looking forward to the live classes and interaction as opposed to discussion board posts. There's a Facebook group of ok 1k members called Admitted Nursing@Simmons and I made a Facebook group for our cohort Nursing@Simmons September 2017

Hi everyone! I received a call yesterday evening informing me that I'm accepted into the program. Does anyone know if the Biology course refresher is hard?

I haven't heard of the bio bridge course being hard. Join the Facebook group Admitted Nursing@Simmons and search bio bridge and you'll see that most whof have had to take it said they benefited from it and felt more prepared for advanced pathophysiology. Even though it's expensive, im kind of happy that I have to take it because I was going to review a and p anyway. Also join the Facebook group I made for our cohort Nursing@Simmons September 2017.

Looking forward to this experience. Oh, and I just joined the September 2017 cohort fb group.

Not sure if you all are aware or not, but there is a YouTube vlog that chronicles one students journey through Simmons FNP program. She talks about it each week. So far, its interesting. I'll post a link to it.

It's called Follow Me Through Grad School. By Bizzy Bee Nursing.
