Masters entry to NP

Nursing Students NP Students

I am currently in a masters generalist program. I was wondering how many of you have gone on to do your NP after a similar program. I want to practice as quickly as possible. I would love to start a certificate program right away before the DNP becomes mandatory and it looks like they are phasing them out. I am open to all the options would be a certificate program, another masters, or the DNP, just looking for quick.

At most places you will just enroll in a post masters certificate program in your desired specialty.

Now before you get offended, I am a pretty quick RN- BSN-NP student (became an RN in 2009). BUT I think everyone should work a little to make sure they pick the right specialty. I started nursing school with the intent of working in psych and being a PMHNP but I worked for 4 years to make sure I chose correctly. And I did, but I have many friends who are regretting their choice now even after they had worked in their chosen specialty wishing they had chose family instead if acute care etc.

I don't think you need to worry about the DNP becoming mandatory anytime soon.

I'm not sure what a masters generalist program is, some sort of MSN I assume?

If that's the case, then yea, there are several post-masters certificate programs for various types of APRNs. Your first decision as twinkerrs said would then be to decide what type of NP you wish to become, and then find a program for that particular type that meets your needs.
